Well my car is now totalled. For those of you that don't know the story about what happened, it's in the miscellanious section. Look it up.

So here's the deal. I'm looking for a car relatively close to me, (aka less than 100 miles) P.M. me for my zip code, i don't want to jsut give that out. But if you guys could help me find a sweet car, under 100,000 miles (unless it's so cool it doesn't matter :P )

Thanks soooo much, i really appreciate it. I jstu can't seem to find a nice car. I've searched autotrader, and yahoo cars. Thanks!

No maximum price!? Tomorrow I will look for an Eleanor with 160,000 miles on the odometer, located in Zimbabwe, Africa on Ebay.

Porscheboy
Feb 01, 2006, 10:00 PM
I'm not really from Zimbabwe, that was a joke....
By the way, can't believe I forgot. My max price is around $7,000 US. Around, give or take a few hundred.

i could afford that mofo!!!!

Attaus
Feb 01, 2006, 10:46 PM
Or you could just sell the V6 to pay for it. It's not doing you much good anyway. Plus, you'd be shaving about 2 seconds off your 0 - 60 time and about 1.5 off your 1/4 mile.

Thanks for lookin, but that car did need a bit of stuff, and I'm lookin for somethin that I can immediately drive. I'm borrowing my grandpas Honda Element (which I hate. Glad I have a car, but hate elements) and need to get a car pretty quickly.

Tonight I found a 1972 Porsche 911T Targa. It needs paint though, it's umm.... pink. But I can repaint it with one of my friends no problem. Can I get some background info from some people who know about it? I looked at it tonight, and I already got it down to 7,000, but i may need to go a little more.

VR6 Man
Feb 02, 2006, 6:38 PM
Get it, please. Thats just awesome cause its a 911. However, I'd be saving up as soon as I bought that so I could have a beater car.

Feb 02, 2006, 6:52 PM
have no idea where you are located, but if you are anywhere near Northern CA, there is an 87 maserati biturbo spyder sitting in a barn in Palo Cedro. It needs a new top desperately. The paint is fading on the front bumper. The clock and stereo are missing from the dash, but it does run. It has not been registered in two years, but the guy will be thrilled to sell it. He asked $7,500 for it last year, but never sold it (there is no market for exotics in this area) I almost traded a harley for it, but the guy backed out, and kinda pissed me off, so I am not going to try again

Porscheboy
Feb 02, 2006, 7:56 PM
naw, I'm in new hampshire. I doubt I'd do that deal anyways, the Maserati Biturbo has shakey reliability. But I like that car.

I just drove with one of my friends to go see it. Dumb idea because it's about 1/2 hour away from my house, but whatever. I'm excited, what can I say! It needs some bondo work, and the paint makes me cry a little. I'm gonna need some 944 seats or something, the stock seats suck. I need to pretty much strip the interior and wash it out, it smells like nasty old car pretty bad. I would also need to get a short shifter or something, the shifter is looser than my friends Toyota Tercel beater car. Bad. It also needs new drum brakes, no big deal. easy to replace. I think I want to do it. Lots of work, but in the end, completely worth it.

Feb 02, 2006, 8:05 PM
Good for you, you'll love the car so much more if you put some sweat into it. If you buy it post pictures so we can have before and after shots.

Porscheboy
Feb 02, 2006, 10:03 PM
Thanks, I think this may be a full on thing I'm gonna do. I like this car, it's soooo PIMP!!!! (jk.) But really, it's awesome and I want it.

Or some of those cars that Tom K posted.
But really the Targa is a great car.

Porscheboy
Feb 03, 2006, 6:53 PM
yeah I want that, but also, do you think it would be a good car for a 16 year old (soon to be 17) to have as a year round car? I do think it's awesome though.

Depends on where your living.

If you get snow, look for a beater car as soon as you can.

Porscheboy
Feb 07, 2006, 9:50 PM
I can't seem to find any cars! The guys who owns the Porsche hasn't called me yet, so I think that's a no-go, and every single car I find is sold by the time I call or go see it. I can't stand driving that Honda Element anymore.

Feb 07, 2006, 10:30 PM
I kno what you're saying,I have someone that came to our family from my country, and he's looking for a cheap car also, cant seem to find any of them, their either to beat up or just not good....

Mopar68
Feb 08, 2006, 5:59 PM
Watch the roof. They leak. And can you handle an old 911? You wouldn't be able to drive it in the winter, really. Hell, the wet would be tough.

Porscheboy
Feb 08, 2006, 9:06 PM
Naw, forget the 911. The guy selling it obviously doesn't like me or somethin. I'm thinking of buying a cheaper car and having a bunch of money left over. Like, go to an auto auction and get a car for 2 grand-ish, and then call it a day.

ferrarikid24
Feb 08, 2006, 10:15 PM
So what do you think you will find at an auction for 2k?

Porscheboy
Feb 08, 2006, 10:20 PM
You'd be surprised. my friend goes with his dad and they find MANY nice cars for sale. He saw a car close to mine sell for 1200 bucks!!

ferrarikid24
Feb 08, 2006, 10:25 PM
The only nice car from an auction that someone has gotten and that I know,is a jeep cherokke, now that was a nice car,for its price/model/year...the rest of the cars I have heard about weren't that good...

Porscheboy
Feb 08, 2006, 10:29 PM
Hmm. Well if I'm lucky I'll be going to a dealer auction, not an auction held open to the public.

For 2K that would be a massive bargin.

You only really need to buy some aftermarket seats and put some masking tape over the yellow bit near the gearstick.
I wouldn't get the auto.

Porscheboy
Feb 12, 2006, 9:51 PM
yeah, that is a nice little car, but I'm wondering if I should get another Audi, for all wheel drive. It was nice being able to go up hill wathcing everyone else go off the road, or slide back down. A good feeling of control.

Feb 13, 2006, 10:27 AM
I would go with the 911 Targa.
Or some of those cars that Tom K posted.
But really the Targa is a great car.
Are you a moron?
I've looked heavily into old 911's.
They
1) Have huge repair bills
2) Have huge miles
and if, for some reason it happens to be in decent condition, it'll cost you around $18k-$25k. (For an SC...the others are so unreliable i wouldn't even think twice about it)

Be smart,
Get something like a 2nd gen Acura Legend GS. 6SP, 240hp V6, yes please!

^i think thats a great car too...acura legend, beautiful.

but...if u haven't noticed, porscheboy likes german cars...bet he doesn't even think about getting that car.

anyways, i like the looks of the lile 3 series bimmer. the interior is a lil suspect...but if u think about it, its an 88...u can either take ripped up cloth/leather, or that yellow and black leather/vinyl. plus its a stick, gotta love stick.

VR6 Man
Feb 13, 2006, 4:24 PM
Dude, that 3 series would be nice as well. I really like the looks of the old 3 series bimmers. Find some old M3 seats and replace the yellow ones. You would have a lot of fun in the bimmer.

Kirstyn, I found out most of what you said a little while ago, and decided not to get that car. Especially since we jsut got over a foot of snow here, and I need a car that can go through that stuff. And teh Legend is nice, but I can't find any near me. No 5 speeds at least.

This one isn't bad:
http://autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=185036373&dealer_id=55448849&car_year=1992&search_type=both&make=ACURA&transmission=Manual&distance=0&model=LEGEND&address=19087&make2=sel_one&certified=&advanced=y&max_mileage=&max_price=&bkms=1140150689820&min_price=&end_year=2007&color=&start_year=1991&drive=&isp=y&engine=&body_style=SEDAN&doors=&fuel=&lang=en&cardist=71
It's in NJ, so that's not toooo far.
It's just an LS,
3.2L V6, 200hp, 210tq.
0-60 in the 7's, 15's for the quarter mile.
6300Redline
3500LBS.
Not the most exciting car, not the newest car, but it's definetly affordable, and a very nice vehicle to get from here to there.
It's got some peppiness and luxury, though.
