i got nothin against jap cars, infact i love em just like i love euro hot hatches, american muscle and pretty much everythin else with wheels, but one thing i hate is when ppl buy stock cars and stick bodykits and badges on the cars from the sports version of the same car, like when ppl buy 1.6 vtec civic but make it look like a type r but has stock engine, same applies with the ford escort when people make it look like the cosworth, there is a guy who lives buy me who has a gt-s skyline r 33 which are cool cars not quite a gtr but hey, anyway this guy has slapped a big bean can and crap 3 spoke alloys and gtr badges on the back and has totally ruined a perfectly good car.

i just got done with a thread about replacement for displacement... we both had good arguments so kinda just dropped it... off the lot larger displacement most likely takes the cake but the smaller displaced engine with turbos and awd can catch up in a hurry with a little extra cash. consider the new gtr that's coming in 2007... it'll probably be around 50k... and 15k more will give you a fast car... gauranteed... as far as vipers are concerned... they suck my sack... nothing more than a dick extension... the new z06 is AWESOME... and you can't beat the price... but the argument is debabtable that japanese cars can't compare to american... afteral... look at resale values and dependability also... there is a reason that ford and chevy are going under.

Ford? Most certainly not going under. It takes a lot of people to keep a specific make alive within a company. Explorer = gone. Therefore so are the workers unfortunately.

As for the video, I'm a true Honda fan but that video is hilarious. I think it is a troubling trend in the way some cars look, but hey American Muscle guys I'm sure you feel that way about guys with V6 Camaros/Firebirds/Mustangs. I think everyone should just respect other people's own preferences.

Last thing I'm going to say on this subject... ever.

Its not just Japanese cars that are classified as "Ricers". I see many American and European cars that are "riced out". And its just that someone back whenever decided that some Japanese car had too much crap on it that looked stupid (ridiculous bodykit, big wing, big tailpipe with annoying noise) and they coined the phrase "ricer" because it was catchy and slightly degrading.

So the point to all this is, the cars in that video were riced out cars, theres no doubt about it. I mean come on, did anyone actually like the majority of the cars in that video? Frankly I think they were poorly modified/built up.

And everyone has seen their fair share of "riced out" Mustangs, Camaros, Tauruses, Escorts, Cobalts, Neons, and the slew of them from Europe.

Japanese dudes, sorry that someone had to choose a word that basically stems from Asian decent to classify a dumb looking/ugly/pointlessly or sloppily modified car. But you need to get over it.

American and European dudes, the Japanese guys arent the only ones with riced out cars, so lets not stereotype more than the name already suggests by saying they are the only ricers.

But if a car is "rice" its going to get called "rice" no matter where its from. Unfortunately the Japanese aftermarket car world has seen the demand for products which can be used to rice cars more than most others I would have to say. And this is, from what I believe, because many younger people drive economy cars that come from Japan. And these kids want to do stuff to make their car look cool for cheap. Unfortunately they have no taste/vision and tend to turn the car into a bowl of steaming rice. But, like I said before, kids with cars from elsewhere in the world also do the same thing, the majority of kids just seems to fall towards the Asian market.

I hope someone reads all this and finds it somewhat insightful. I hate ranting as I just did, I feel as though it tends to be a pointless cause in the end. Please quote and question if you have a problem with any of this, I'd be happy to talk further if some understanding is needed.

I can go buy an 02 Camaro for 12,000 and put 10,000 in it and guess what? Viper killer! But it all depends on how much you want to spend. How much would it cost to make a Civic tear up a ZO6? Take that same amount of money and put it into that ZO6... what do you have? A car that can go down the track in Super Comp class! lol. It would be at the end of the track and the driver could have the chute halfway repacked before that Civic hit the traps! LOL... like I said, it all depends on how much money you want to spend.

Japs and Americans have their good and bad cars. The video was funny... and it really is funny to watch a tiny little car packed with tons of plastics (which are only slowing it down) and sticked with some crazy paintings... but damn - these cars weren't made to be big and to compete against american muscle cars. Their engines' torque is not much bigger than the torque of starter motors from a 7,6L V8 engines, but a Dodge Challenger would totally be overtaken in a tight curve by some 1.6 CRX.

It's just like comparing a M-16 to AK-47. M-16 has smaller caliber which packs less kinetic energy, but the wounds are somehow more deadly (because bullet's fragmentation inside of body, which makes bleeding uncontrollable) than the powerful hits from AK-47 which can send some light persons flying some little distance, but they don't kill instantly (You just can't get up after hit and You're lying incapacitated waiting for the death). From the other side AK-47 shots can penetrate up to 6 lined up persons (M-16 can only penetrate 1 and moderately wound the one behind him) and there are not too many armor vests that can protect from an AK-47 steel core bullet at distances up to 250m.

Everything has it's "+" and "-". It's just a matter of situation and taste on what car (weapon) You choose. I prefer a pony car (not a muscle car) like 1973 and 1991 Firebird Trans Am, because it has the good compromise between power and handling.

Mates dad had a GTR-33. He sold it because he was being overtaken by cars 250kg heavier than his own. I thought that the GTR's were meant to be one the best handling japanese cars, It is rather sad when they are out-braked and out handled by 1850kg family sedan, which are essentially just de-tuned american engines.

The GTR had overheating problems as well.
