The LS1 fits nicely in FD/C3S RX-7s.

Yeah, very common swaps although this is the first V8 FD RX-7 I've seen.
There are so many 1st Gen. RX-7's with LS1's and the 4.0L Lexus V8's which are apparently rock solid. Great tough engines.
One thing, there's no way the RX-7 would have the balance it previously had. Beeing a front/mid engine layout, low centre of gravity and lighweight of course.
The front would be far heavier now, kinda sucky.

DAM! A V8 IN AN FD!!!!!! I didn't even know that was possible! I've never seen an RX-7 w/ a V8.....
That Holden is the TOUGHEST V8 I've ever heard.....

Maybe they put some weights in the back.....

Haha, weights in the bac. That would only mar the original's handling further.
+ Weight = Gay
So you've never seen/heard a V8 in an RX-7? I should find some pics, it's far, far more common than you'd think.

Not really. LS1's are only a tad heavier than the 13B's, with their aluminium construction.
People claim that balance is only slightly different, if not at all.
EDIT - There's a guy on www.rx7club.com doing an LS7 conversion on his RX-7.

LS7, that's mad.
I think the V8 RX-7's are pretty cool, definetly different, but I'd never rid one of a Rotary.

neither would I.
It's just so surprising to completely beat a porsche or BMW and afterwards say "hey, my engine is a 1.3 liter"
Most of the time people not knowing that much about rotaries start asking about valves and cilinders and the fun even get's better when you're allowed to say you haven't got a clue what he's talking about since car's don't need those.
