Ive been doing a bit of research in pc's lately and found this 64 bit processor that can get over 4 giga hertz..wo...Then theres SATA hard drives that is 50% faster than normal IDE drives..wo...Then theres RAM,a new module called RIMM will replace DIMM which most pc use..it generates
so much heat it needs a 'heat sink' oh I did not mention Its fast as hell..Then theres blu disk yet to be launched by sony which can hold up to
50 gigs of data..wo..then theres the popular flash memory which in time will wipe out floppy disks the largest out there I think is 10 gigs wo..an this is the most amazing to me, in America Virizon and Wireless is putting Fiber optics on a large scale at every home, still early in development but when its done can you imagine downloading 1 gig of info in less than 2 mins!!!!!!...you will get that speed because there will be no EMI.

computers here dont even come with floppy drives anymore, they're already pretty much phased out in the US

you know what would make compueters like insanly better?
know how everything like micro ships and shitn are made out of silicon?
yea, silicon= plastic. plastic = barely conducts electricity.
imagine we start making microchip[s and other such things not out of a cheap mterial that pretty much sucks ass for what were using it for, imagine using somehting else, like say copper.
copper is the best electrical conductor. for one, its metal. silicon is a nonmetal that just barely has the baility to conduct metal. imagine we use copper instead. **** would go sooo much faster, and copper only a bit more expensive
except a bit, when you make thousands of computers everday, is alot. thats why they dont already do it.
btw, silver is an even better conductor of electricity, but like, silver is kinda of expensive. uber expensive on large scale.

No floppy drives in UK computers now

What I'm really waiting for ISP's to switch over to gigabit internet. Currently everyone is using megabit. megabit=100, gigabit=1000. That's ten times faster than regular cable. Pretty sweet haha.
What you said about processor speeds going up to 4 Ghz...there's more to it than clock speeds. AMD's current dual core processors beat Intel's current dual cores at nearly everything, yet they run at a much lower speed. Intel's new line of processors coming out in 2006 will be clocked lower than they are now. Besides...there's always overclocking. People have gotten regular Pentium 4's up to 5 Ghz stable, with liquid nitrogen cooling of course haha. I haven't use a floppy disk in ages...just a little USB flash drive that fits in my pocket easy. Graphics cards are moving along fast as well.
But yea, technology is really moving up there.

Silicon is perfect because it's not TOO conductive as copper and silver would be.

The laptop that my school has lent me has no floppy drive either.
My familys PC has 1 but it has only been used once and it is 2 and a half years old.
Only half of what you said made sence to me.

Some body once said this to me ..computer power doubles every 18 months they also decrease in size and increase in speed giving off more heat...so there will come a time when processors cant be built any faster unless a new technology is invented like light processors.

Have you ever heard of Dell XPS 600? Its like $5,000 gaming computer. What do you think is so good about it?

its the same as the alienware computers. theyre aimed at the obbsessive gamers in the world (mainly the US) in that they have virtually no lag while playing games or on internet. ie really good graphics cards multiple processors and other little tidbits that make the thing faster.
here is my opinion for online computer games or console games. they should be illegal. seriously they suck the life away from lazy people that think just because they can do something in a game that it is just like reality but without the work. also games are made for people to be good at and when someone that feels that they cant do anything think that just because there good at at game they should just keep on doing that. has anyone see the boom headshot guy. he is a prime example of a person that i am talking about. i mean even in the movie that guy says the cant do anything esle good but play computer games, he cant even hold a job because his life is sucked into a game that will never get him anywhere else than a few hundred dollars every now and then. ultimatley i think computer games will bring our society to an end just because games are essencially legal drugs. addiction wise and cost to use.
i had to let off a little steam

RIMM Memory banks are nothing new, they just aren't popular in the original household computers.

^^ you seem to know alot..if any thing happens to my pc I'll call you.
Concerning vedio games they are seriously addictive..I estimated from about age 14 to now 18 I spent over 750 US seriously....I trying to get my own console now.

Silver is a good heat conductor not electricity conducter, and the problem with the heat is not of the materials is of how fast you can disipitate the heat out of the circuits, hence the heat sinks, although ive heard somehting about water towers which cool the cpu damn effectivly.

Have you ever heard of Dell XPS 600? Its like $5,000 gaming computer. What do you think is so good about it?I ordered a Voodoo Omen. It's just under $7,000. I'm not a gamer but I do a lot of video and audio editing. It's a built to order, thats the only way to make sure you get decent parts. Off the shelf pc's use cheap mobo's and mass quantity ram chips. no matter how fast your cpu is or how much ram you have, if your bus speed isn't fast enough and the mobo's cheap it doesnt make any difference. And the XPS 600 is an excellent gamer

If you are not on a budget, most people are on a budget when building a computer.

I'm planning to get an XPS this Christmas. Is it better to build one or just buy the complete XPS?

Well if you can afford an XPS, you can afford to build an awesome computer.

Can I build a computer better than XPS for less than the price?
