What is it? And what does it do?

It stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control.

In basic terms it is a system that electronically alters the which camshaft the engine uses. In doing this the engine will operate using the best possible valve timings. This is because the engine can be at high revs and as such be going through its cycle faster than at low revs (obviously) However the time it takes for fuel to get into the cylinder is almost constant and so valve timings need altered to allow the fuel a more precise amount of time to get into the cylinder. This makes the car more responsive, faster and more fuel economic.

What about V-Spec?

What about V-Spec?

VSpec stands for Victory Specification - its from Nissan, it isnt an engine system like VTEC...

So V-Spec is more like a model, not a performance upgrade?

So V-Spec is more like a model, not a performance upgrade? Yeah, like The Sentra. There are two models: The Sentra SE-R and the Sentra SE-R V-Spec.

why don't any body use the SEARCH in the forum !

EchoX
Jan 25, 2004, 2:05 PM
Because most of the threads in this forum compare cars or ask which one is best. It doesn't define what things are. That's why most of the talk in this forum goes over my head. There's reference to it, but no explanation.

1st of all : all of the threds in this forum are technical and don't compare cars

2nd : there were at least 3-4 threads talking about V engines ! hell i answered in the V5 enigne , an old V6 thred ...... and finally i posted a thred with a link that tells you all about V enignes in all sizes , how they work and so !

so mainly if you didn't freaken do a search then at least reply somethink like : " ok thanks " or " i will use it next time " or any thing else but don't give me stupid answers with you trying to tell me there arn't !!!

How does all this relate to V-TEC if its just valve timing? And how was I suppose to know that it related to V engines? You forget that I don't know much, and if you were new, you probably wouldn't make the correlation between V engines and V-TEC.

forget it ...

just please try the search option before asking .

thanks !

If you'd do the search, you will see that most of the returned hits come back as car comparisons. Most of them don't give me much info. That's why I made this thread.

White-Night, you are wrong here... the guy was asking about VTEC, not V engines!!

sorry , but it seems to me that all the threds are repeating each other ! its making me crazy !
how many threds can people post about the skyline! how many about the STI Vs. the EVO ! .... how many about V engines ! ...Drfting ..( one in the racing forum and one in the storys and i don't even feel like making a search !

if all of the members new and old would even think about using the SEARCH option i think it will make things much better over here! ..

and i think it should be written in the forum rules to look if a thred was already been open about a spesific subject or not ! .. and not just ask all the time

ohh and another thing sorry EchoX all of my anger fell on you  , and look at the Smooth eniges thred , there is a link to a technical site which explains everything about engines and cars... including VTEC .

if you know what your looking for you can read at least the subject of some threds and know whats in it ! ...

sure it don't always work but there are some threds that keep repeating themselvs over and over ... ( those threds are the ones that chould be locked while the moderator replys : " use the search option this thred is aleady open " or something like that .

i think ur over reacting!
If any topics are duplicated the mods will delete them... And there is a forum rule again any duplication of live topics

1. http://www.sportscarforums.com/showthread.php?t=221&highlight=evo+vs+st i

2. http://www.sportscarforums.com/showthread.php?t=366&highlight=evo+vs+st i

3. http://www.sportscarforums.com/showthread.php?t=186&start=0

4. http://www.sportscarforums.com/showthread.php?t=897&highlight=evo+vs+st i

im not saying there isnt duplication - of course there is!
This is a forum and people come to talk - have you never asked the same person the same question twice?

I think you are over reacting by letting this get to you - if youve already answered a question you have no obligation to answer it again when someone else askes it!

i think new member should make a search for an answer to there question before asking it , duplications i don't really like couse it lowes the forum level , if you can't find it you can ask frealy or if you have an opinion you can add it to the current open thred , there is no need to make tons of threds about the same subject or just adding an opinion in a subject the have already been discussed and open for replys .

waiting for your answer .

by the way i think this part of the thred should be cut and moved to the Sportscars forum and not over here couse we are way out of the topic ( but i can't cut it only mods can and this is already open so just move it so other members will give there opinion thanks )
