Well, I've seen some confused about the new Range rover sport, and the range rover. And the supercharged models. And I'd like to help clarify that. Since, it is indeed pretty confusing.
I'll start off by saying: The Range Rover Sport is structurally different from the Range Rover.
The Range Rover Sport is a totally new car for 2006 built off of a 2inch shortened LR3 chassis. It's exterior styling is very similar to that of the Range Rover, but is not the same. Overall, the car has a much lower and wide stance than the Range Rover.
For 2006, The Range Rover Sport is offered in 2 trims. The HSE trim ($57k) and the Supercharged trim ($70k).
For 2006, The Range Rover is offered in 2 trims. The HSE trim ($75k) and the Supercharged trim ($90k)
Range Rover Sport HSE $57k: 4.4L 300hp V8 (A la LR3 V8)
Range Rover Sport Supercharged $70k: 4.2L 390hp V8 (A la Jaguar XKR/XJR)
Range Rover HSE $75k: 4.4L 305hp V8 (A la LR3 V8)
Range Rover Supercharged $90k: 4.2L 400hp V8 (A la Jaguar XKR/XJR)
So, how do I tell them apart.
Well, theres many ways, but heres some big ones:
Side intakes/grilles:

That's how I tell a Sport from a regular RR.
Key features that tell you a Sport is a Supercharged:
Flared Side Skirts
Key features that tell you a Range Rover is a Supercharged:
Front Grille
Side intake/grille
Key features that let you tell a Range Rover from a Range Rover Sport:
Taillights.
Side intake/grille.
Orange paint.
[These aren't the only ways to tell, but they are the ones I usually use]
Hopefully this is helpful to you all!
Oh, and PS: The Range Rover Sport's interior is very different from the Range Rover's. It's like the LR3 (d'uh, it's based on it!). The Range Rover's interior is original, and has cool upscale details, like piping.
And no, the Supercharged models don't retain the Jaguar's J-gate shifter.
If someone has a shot of a Sport and a Regular RR side by side, please post it! I'd be interested to see it.
