Mustangs deserve a bit of respect, but they do lack in a majority of the models. Only the suped up special versions deserve any respect. Making a car on basically the same chassis (not even a good one at that) for 25 years really hurt the car. The Focus on the other hand is an excellent offering. I just with we could get the good versions here in the US. Okay, the SVT is alright, but definitly not the best.

Of all the cars in the world none have the same aftermarket support as the Mustang. When the cars were introduced in their respective times they were excellent cars, especially for the money. The potential to do anything you want it to do is there too. I mean serious competition in ANY venue. If you can name something that another car has done when it comes to bare statistics, I can almost positively come up with a mustang example.

Really?! 'Cause I was under the impression that Civics had a claim on this. I'd seriously think that many more compact imports have a better aftermarket support than the Mustang on any day of the week.

I totally agree. Honda Civics are the ultimate ricer cars.. so they would have to have the most parts.. Vinyls.. decals.. coffee cans.. you name it.

The mustang has a huge aftermarket for performance parts, the magazine Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords is loaded for example with companys selling parts.

I forgot about the Mustang magazine. But there's also the Honda tuning mag, and that was basically merely for Civics initially. How much different are the Honda engines from one another. Sure, they are in different cars, but only the Mustang had that 5.0 whatever. I still am very firm in the Civic having the LARGEST selection of aftermarket parts EVER.

In the last 5 yrs, imports like the Civic have totally taken over in the aftermarket industry. However, over the long run, there probably has been more dedication for after market support to the Mustang. As far as the Focus goes, in my view its just as good as a jap car. They're tuned the exact same way as Civics are and just because they are made by Ford does not mean they're "muscle cars." Perfect example is the Mercury Cougar. Mercury is owned by Ford, and the Cougar is actually built in South Korea. Just an interesting fact.

NO WAY, the 5.0 Mustang has the most aftemarket support ever.
Also its a matter of what you are talking about, the Mustang has more
performance related stuff, while the Civic has more cosmetic crap.

As far as the civic vs the mustang its pretty easy to shoot the civic down. As far as aftermarket goes too. The mustang you can buy literally any engine component aftermarket. Do a search for performance accessories for the mustang and see what you come up with. Then do a search for similar parts (the parts they have related anyhow) for the civic and you'll see its actually very much in favor of the mustang. The 5.0 is just a 302 btw, of which there have been MANY models to carry that motor.(LTD, Crown Vic, Fairmont, Older Mustangs, All Ford pickups, Maverick, and it goes on and on) Now before you go bashing me for being an import hater realize please that thats all I did for two years. Specializing in Subaru EJ,s honda B,h,f, and C code engines, as well as wankels. So believe me I know the market. Stangs got it nailed, followed by Fbodies, Ybodys and pretty much anything GM with a 350,305,454,396,427 or whatever I missed in it.

The cougar is no longer being manufactured, and it's based on the mondeo, so i think you are wrong, the only korean car was the festiva, it was kia pop there
