I was wondering what all of you thought were the greatest car rivalries and their greatest battles?
I'm not talking about car companies i'm taling about actual models. Nor am i talking about making another comparo thread, i want to know what you guys think are the greatest, longets lasting, closest rivalries.
Two rivalries for example are:

Dudes, the obvious one...Corvette versus 911...

Yea...that comes to my mind. I like it becuz I have a soft spot for both of these cars, and am looking forward to owning both someday. Plus, it goes so far back - all the way to the fifties. And, it's cross-continental, so it's a global battle! hehe.
Another good one though, is Ferrari vs. Lamborghini. That was a great rivalry back in the day, until when Lambo got bought out by the Germans, and since it has died down somewhat...but still going strong. i.e. Gallardo vs. f430.
P.S. I listed Lambo and Fer. companies rather than models, because they have had numerous models over the decades that they have battled...too many for me to wanna list, but it all started with the Meira...then the countach etc.

:-k Not being an engineer...I am not sure. Allz I know is that the Viper's poor gas mileage just kinda knocks it to the side of other high-end cars like vettes(z06) and Porsches, which also achieve incredible speed and acceleration...but with much better gas mileage. The Viper's gas mileage with gas how it is nowdays just kinda would make me hesitate about driving it so often, and to work and stuff etc.

When initially sold no the NSX was making out pretty good, Then the Viper just made it look silly. Then costing 75k looked retarded when it was being beat by bone stock LT1 Camaros down the 1320.

In motor racing there needs to be power to weight restrictions, gearbox restrictions etc.etc. just like there are now to make the class fair for all competitors. when holden and ford are being restricted in these areas and nissan aren't thats unfair.

for example stone brothers racing could develop a 1200hp engine and then castrol perkins may only have the resources to develop an 800hp engine.

Take notice you dont know what you're talking about. Im not going to justify those comments with a lengthly response. Anyone can use google. The 1995 Mustang was the last to see the 5.0 . The 4.6 took less time, with less prep work to get into the 8's than the 5.0. Think about that for a second. Also the appropriately rated 32v DOHC Cobra (4-valvers for the cobra types) was right on the heels of the LS1 Z28's.
The 03/04 Cobra just wiped the Camaro off the map. :)

Low 13's doesnt mean it will beat a RX7?? You better just stop right there dude. Around a track, as in not a straight line, I concede. The RX7 is the superior handler of the two, but the sheer grunt of the stang is enough to make it easily compete with the RX7 if not beat it. If you want to step into the world of modification the RX7 has a chance in hell to play with a Mustang down the 1320'. RX7's arent really super fast. They're quick and all but there is much more emphasis on handling. Dont expect it to ever match the sheer grunt of a Mustangs smallblock.

4.6= what was that crappy engine from the 90's? secondly i will say that an s/c'ed 4.6 will knock a 346 off the line.. especially considering the car went out of production.

4.6 = turd N/A..That's all we have to say..

The advancements that came about made force induction more effective in the engine..

Just leave it at that.


If you want a high HP n/a or Fi engine...get a 300+ something or other..

If you want a car that can effectively get gains reliably with f/i and still be practical....get a 4.6...Not to mention the stangs with the 4.6's had like 10x better brakes

yeah the stang is faster down the line ill give ya that as long as the driver knows what hes doin but the 2000rx7s can stay preatty close not the rx8 i wont even get into that subject but a 1999-2002 rx7 can hold its own against a stang in curves and down the line i'm not saying it will win but it will be close
