IT depends on were u live and were is the dealer....
for example they dealer in my city for Saab , when i first bought the car.. he told me ....
" listen i know your father , this is a great car but personally nobody here knows **** about it... if u wanna enjoy it go to the main dealer 70 KM away from my city "
that was the stupedest thing i ever heard ....
the Saab is concluded with all UMI Dealer... UMI is mostly american car...caddilac and other .....but the dealers garage told me he dont know how to fix a car he sells ...!
is it crap or what!

I don't think you can judge a dealer by it's company. I've been to many dealers of the same company, some good, some terrible. My personal favorite dealer in NJ is Bell Ford, mitsubishi and Subaru. Outstanding service. They are very honest. They would show me a car, then say "you know what, that car has a shotty transmission, it wouldn't be a very good buy". They are always striving to please you. They try to find a car that best fits your lifestyle and budget. And if they can't, they find another dealer that can!

For me, any dealer experience is a bad one. I bought my last car over the net: sent a quote request to all Toyota dealerships in the area and got the lowest price available. I did go in to one of the stores just to check and could not get the same quote in person.

I then told them the color and options I wanted and they found the car I needed still in transit. They reserved it for me and I just showed up to pick it up when it arrived.

Needless to say, you need to know what you want and do your homework if you want to buy a car like this.

Toyota dealers are well known for their after sales services.

Yeh, they have a separate accesories store (at least in my town) that has TRD exhaust systems and body kits and all that crap.

The good thing is, that if you buy anything from the accesories store and put it on your Toyota (i.e. TRD exhaust), IT DOESN'T VOID YOUR CAR'S WARRANTY :D :D :D :D

Another good thing is that if your car needs to be repaired, your Toyota dealer gives you another car for free until your own car is repaired!

Oh yeh, that happened to my dad, too. He has a Tundra and the alternator got all screwed up so the dealership gave him a Corolla (or something, I forgot) :D

Damn, I love the service :D

The best ever is Saturn. They are ver nice. They listen to you. I have never disagreed with them. When you go to the dealer to have your oil checked on they clean the outside and make the inside of the car all shinny, they make the tires all shinny. If you want something check in your engine out they do it for free. A week ago when I went to have my oil changed, I asked them if they could check out my motor mounts, they did it for free. When they were all all done with cleaning the car and the things they do...They told me the the mounts were a little weak...they did it for free.
When you go in to buy a car there are some of they cars in the bilding and there is always is a car that is triped so you can see iside the engine and inside the doors and cool stuff like that!

I work for a dealership here in Florida. We sell Chevrolet, Kia, and (of course) preowned vehicles. My dealership is a participator in what we call "courtesy transportation," where if your vehicle is having warrantied repair work done or something else that may take a good portion of time, we have a van that provides transportation for customers or you may partake in a loaner car.

Service, especially after the sale, is what people remember the most. That's what brings back repeat business.

In my opinion (and having been on both sides of the desk), the dealership experience is broken into 2 parts (50/50). Half of the experience is WHO you end up with selling you the vehicle and the other half is what YOU want your experience to be like.

cool, all the dealers in my area do the same thing, so whats it like being a dealer?

It's very cool. We use a different selling process at our dealership. It's pressure-free (if you can believe that). See, our job is very simple; we give you the information, you make the decision.

What you come to learn in the car business is that it's all a numbers game (funny enough). I know, from my past performance, that if I take a given number of "ups" (customers), I will sell X number of cars. It's really that simple. It amazed me at the amount of research that has been put into car sales.

Did you know that 1 out of every 10 people pay the sticker price? Did you know that, on average, a "phone up" (sales call customer) will purchase a vehicle within 10 days of their call? AND, did you know that the average car payment in America right now is OVER $400/mo?

The neat thing about car sales is that you hear a lot of great motivation one-liners. You get to see what other jobs bring in (on the salary part of the credit application), and the best thing of all....you get to make people feel good about themselves.

Ya know, a customer's new car is better than gold...whether it's a base model Cavalier or a Corvette. I like to think that we don't sell cars...we sell an experience and build relationships.
