Hi all
I hope some can give me some information and help.
I am a fan of german cars, BMW and MB. But, I do love the style and passion of the Italian cars.
Now I am looking at a used BMW M5 or a AMG E55. Then I got the "crazy" idea, why not a Maserati Quattroporte?
The model I am thinking of is 2005-2007.
I like the styling, the interior and the sound from the QP.
But, how is the quality??????
Hope some can help me
Thanks to you all

Can you afford to have a Ferrari serviced? Also, I'd imagine there's a major price difference between the Germans and a much more exclusive Quattroported... all of which leads me to believe that this thread is BS.

Actually you can get used Quattroportes for pretty decent prices so it would be up to you but worth it? Id say no.

Come on, don't be too skeptical about stuffs. People join forums to ask questions. And it's only his first post. Let's wait before we call this BS. The quality of QP should be the same as its German rivals. I don't think you can find a lot of information on this forum. Try browsing other bigger forums which have QP owners. I guess that will help. Like what teXas has said, QP can be pretty expensive to be maintained compared to the M5 or the E55 AMG. If you can afford, go with your favourite choice (the Quattroporte in this case) because you like that car. It's your car after all. ;)
The only reason why I think teXas is skeptical is because of his username, no?

Hi all
Thanks for the info.
Well, a used Qp, is not that much more expensive than a M5 or a E55.
Actually, one can find them at lower prices, they dont seems to attract second hand buyers that much. Witch made me ask here about the quality on them.
Same as a German made car? Really? well, that is good news.

No. I gave my reasons. A username doesn't mean anything.

amazingly, build quality of a maserati is the same as in a...camry. with different materials. i've seen some crappy buttons and covers that move all around where they are supposed to be. i would get an m5, but for the they are in different category.

I can tell you why. Because you can get a used M5 or E55 for around 25 grand.
The Maserati on the other hand is retarded.

E39 M5 for $25k = Yes.
E60 M5 for $25k = No.
I think that was what Evo was referring to. The E39.
And everybody is going to say, "but he is looking at the E60."
And then Evo is going to say "you guys are all gay because the E39 was the last 'real' M5."
To which he would be right.

My cousin has a Maserati Coupe (2005 I think?). Loves everything about it EXCEPT for when in stop-start traffic (LOATHES it then) and the service costs.
He was telling me of a time he took it in for a service. They changed all 8 spark plugs for AU$400. That's right. Although, this is largely because of the lack of Maserati service centres in Australia, of which there are none.
Needless to say, he is trying to get rid of it. He loves it when he can open it up, and is very, VERY fond of it when he can, but everything else is a big thumbs down.
On a similar vein (maybe), he test drove an S5 on the weekend. Said ti did everything right but it was dull. We popped in to a VW dealership whilst working (I drive a van around for his stores) and he had a good look at a Passat. Those cars aren't bad!
Anyway, that's besides the point. My point is, if you want the Masser, you really really need to WANT to want it, because as teXas said, you will be stung by high service costs. You'll also most likely bore from the car in traffic.

It's not as good and the QP will not perform like an M5 or E63. Honestly, look at a Panamera... it's not pretty but it's AMAZING to drive!

Wrong, the last real M5 was the E34, as it was the last one handbuilt by the M-Division on it's own line, like the E30 M3.

You are aware that the Enzo was made on the assembly line as well?
To what extent then is the E60 M5 or even worse, the E39 M5, not a "real" M5?

I'd say go for the Merc. The Maser is nice n all but listen to all of the info provided so far. As for the BM , I'd take the Merc over the BM anyday. Mainly cos although it's a nice car, more people seem to be buying the M5 than others.
