Poseurs, take note: you can finally corral all that imaginary power your Hyundai Elantra SRT8 isn't making underhood. Eric Hsu at JDM Insider's Beyond the Dyno blog came across what'll doubtless be the latest trend to show up on M-badged Plymouth Breezes everywhere: bogus, glue-on brake caliper covers that give you the high-performance Brembo look while perfectly maintaining your fakemobile's incomprehensible lameness. When it comes to things that suck, innovation knows no bounds.
What a joke. :(

Ricer: Oh look to my new Brembo caliper, YEAH BREMBO!!! I have the ****!

Swedish_BR: You meant look to that fake-ass plastic stuff over your ridiculous small brake discs in your pitful 93 Corolla?

Well I would kick one of this if I saw one.

They're going to melt. Sheesh, the ricers have allowed companies to spawn some of the most rediculous products in automotive history...

BTW, is this made by a company? If so, did they get the rights to use the Brembo logo?????

This is pathetic. Pretty soon they're going to have "Build your own 10ft ricer wing out of paper mache"

It's probably some Chinese company -- they have zero regard for copyrights.

AH! Sweet! I'm gonna get me some blue ones! Who sells 'em? Wal-Mart?

Actually, this is worse than the fellows who spray-paint the drum brakes on their Cavaliers.

No. You'll be needing these...

I have seen multiple calipers per disc on motorcycles

I've seen two calipers on an F430 (one for brake one for e-brake - Brembo), but imagine that on a Civic.

What, seriously? Would a bike have enough grip for that to be worth doing?

Cornelius Van

No, but it may(?) allow for extremely precise brake modulation and control, which I assume you would be able to take advantage of, and want, on a bike.

Course, I'm not sure, it's just a thought.

Jaguars have dual brakes on the rear. The disc has a center hub. Small drum brake pads fit inside this for the e-brake, and a regular disc brake caliper is on the outside

grip was not the problem. The purpose was more surface area. There is less heat if the friction is spread out over a larger area. It is a trade off though. Multiple calipers can supply better braking, with less heat fade, but this also adds weight

I'd buy them. Seriously. Not the screaming red or yellow ones, just a nice stylish silver one. At least it'd look better than the standard calipers.

LAME...

Every 18 y/o in a '96 GTI will be having it here in Belgium. I even saw one with plastic spinner wheel covers!!!

Seriously, don't.

I painted my calipers as they had gone a nasty rusty brown colour. I took the wheels off, scrubbed the calipers with a wire brush and used a special brake cleaning spray first, before treating them with 'proper' caliper paint and left them overnight.

Much better, and pruposeful. It will stop them rusting further as well as making them look fresh.

Chris.

I'm actually a little happy, now people won't know if my Wilwoods are legit or not.

Bosses I tell you what you slap on some plastic spinners, and people will definitely think those wilwood are fake.

I know that's true for most cars, but this car has some massive 4 or 6 pot calipers and then some tiny Brembos. I think it's to aid with low speed/cold braking until those ceramics warm up. They wouldn't provide any capability when cold (Ie parked).

The Merc CL63 AMG uses 2 floating calipers on each front brake disc. It needs it though, a 2.5 ton car with 500+bhp needs proper braking power.
