WR has finally made a new car after having been racing updated versions of those WR LM**** for more than ten years.

This is the old one they was using until after the 2006 season where ACO banned the Hybrids.

It will be using a 3.4 liter Zytek V8, so it's probably going to spend more time in the pit than on the track, but at least it looks cute!
Anybody else see the resemblance?

Cool car!, always thought that WR was the team in Le Mans whit most passion from the sport!, remember a danish commentator once said, that a Le Mans whit out WR would never be a complete Le Mans!, in someway i agree whit him!, WR has genes all the way back to approx. 1984 (as WM), and they still hold the Speed Record on La Sarthe!

Mmm I like!

I like the way they've made the front bodywork notably seperate to the sidepod bodywork. They aren't sidepods as such (as in F1 where they jut out), but they are very similar in shape and design. They even have cooling slat on the outsides, that's pretty cool. Those extended fins that come off those sidepods are an interesting feature also.

Wasn't 2008 LMP supposed to be closed cockpit? Or did the rule not change?

That rule only applies to cars running in the LMP1 class. The WR2008 will be running in the LMP2 class.

For anyone interested, Mulsanne's Corner has a news article on the WR2008, found here (http://www.mulsannescorner.com/newsjan08.html).

They have made some of the best looking LMP cars I have seen race in recent years. Extremely simple in design but looks good. This new one is really where the future of LMP2 is going, IMO. I think they will use shapes from F1 cars and apply some fenders and call it a day. The only setback to this new car is that it has a platypus nose, otherwise it is amazing and I hope someone brings it over to ALMS.

Wow, looks pretty cool looking.

It's different than the other LMP2's, I love it, I agree with 'clutch' about bringing it to ALMS. :)

wasn't it also planned that they would rebuild the Peugeot 2.7 HDI V6 engine to use in the Lmp2?.
Hope they make a Lmp1 version, buy a Peugeot Le Mans engine, an simply kick ass! (of course not beating one of the Peugeot's and Tom K :D)

Love the way this car looks.

Slightly off topic; do the LMP experts here think it would ever be feasible for a company to actually sell a limited amount of their LMP cars? I mean, that might sound ridiculously silly, but if I honestly won the lottery owning a real LMP car (maybe not this one, perhaps something like the RS Spyder) would be on my top ten list.

I'm actually not sure. Makers like Lola, Zytek, Courage, Pescarolo etc sell chassises to privateer teams, but I don't know if they will sell to private persons like you and me... But sometimes used LMP cars are up for auction etc.

Something makes me feel that if they were going to sell you a modern day LMP, they'd have to have a dedicated team on standby in case one of their machines goes awry in your hands.

That or have part of their HQ dedicated to private sales, so as not to get in the way of their own operation.
