I know there use to be challenges to see who could get the best track time and people would get points for their performance from week to week. I have not seen this in a long time so I was wondering if anyone else would want to do it?
All we do is each week a track would be picked, and then you get a week to get your best lap time, post it with a picture on the forum, and then at the end of the week the winners will be decided.
Points would be given out for how well you place etc... and while there will be no prize at the end, you can atleast have bragging rights. Might be a good way to kill time waiting for GT5 =)
Any ways the last time ir emember it being done every one had to use the same car, my idea is use pretty just set up some race restrictions like HP and mods etc and then pretty much use what ever car you want. Every one has different taste and there are some cars I refuse to race with anyways. And its interesting to see waht kind of cars people like to race with.
Anyone game? I will set up and organize the whole thing, All i need are people willing to do it

This sounds interesting sMi.rnoff.
I think it may work better if you give everyone one car to choose and race at one track. I think also to set a specific tire to race on, too. Would we just do it in quick play, too? Just a quick time trail with the car at the track.
While the game may have been out for awhile but I am not sure how far along people are there may be certain vehicle restrictions...
Other than that. Tighten up some specifics, but it sounds like a great idea. I'm game.

Yea he was the one that did it, but I didnt like it as much as what I got in my head.
Here is my exact Idea, you have to stick to a vehicle type, for example, in GT4 you have a race for cars 1000 lbs or less or for classics. Just set up a class and go to the game to see what vehicles you can use in that class.
So if we were doing classics, that would be cars before 1970. You could use the vette stingray, a nissan skyline, gt 40, etc.
Tires would be standard, and every one would be on the same track for that week trying to get their best times. I dont want to limit every one to the same car. People have different taste so find the car that fits you and fits the class. The truly skilled drivers will be able to race with cars imo that dont seem like they should be winning.
Hell I just wont the British GT series with a lotus Elise with not even 300 HP vs a 400++ HP jaguar =D

Yeah I did. I made a 10 round thing but towards about the last 4 rounds everyone had a spaz and didn't want to play anymore.
I wouldn't mind entering one if you make one Smirnoff, except my wheel is broken, and I won't be getting a G25 for at least a month.:(

^^It is more appropriate, though, I think I drive faster with the controller...maybe better, yes.
But, I guess it depends how well your with the wheel.

:p:p:p:p:p You suck. I want a G25. Damn. Then again I would have to learn how to heal toe shift. I am pretty damn good at Infinion with a Skyline and a manuel tranny and no tcs...then again...I can't drive worth a crap with my 900 hp Skyline and no tcs...damn....

I wouldn't know but it IS more fun then a controller... thats for sure....once you get the hang of the man tranny you can shift and one-hand the steering like crazy. I don't use the padal shifters though...I only use them on tracks like the 'Ring. Where it REALLY helps to have them. I use the reg shifter other than that. :D Freakin fun it is:D:D

If you are going to have a time attack essentially I'm all in. I remember doing this very same thing with two of my friends; the first time being a specified car, no mods, oil change and specified track. The second time was a car + mods under (I think it was 100,000 CR) and there were three very different tracks 1. El Capitan 2. Motegi full track 3. Seattle Reverse.

Heel and toe is piss once you get the hang of it. I was practicing for ages in my uncle's Toyota Aygo when I was driving it round a parking lot.

How about I just post up a photo of my El Capitan Times and you get a point for each one you beat :D
If the points are the same, then the persong with the biggest time lead would win.
Warning: El Capitan is my "test track" - every car I tune runs around there to get the settings right...
...Ergo, I'm bloody fast there, and have settings that pwn for most other tracks, too.

Heel and toe seems kind of...odd with GT4, especially since there isn't a clutch pedal, at least there isn't one on the DFP. I usually just do one foot, but on occasion I'll use two feet for gas and brake.
Oh, and I seem to be having the same problem as a few people with the damn pedals getting stuck, so I unfortunately will be using the controller this time around. :(

OK I am glad to see people interested in this.
There are three ways that we can do this as far as picking cars taht I have thought of.
Option A
You get a certain amount to spend on your car and upgrades, like $100,000. Keep in mind that $100,005 is over 100,000 so you cannot go over the set price. period. Tires would not be included in the price.
Option B
Every one gets the same car, same upgrades same every thing.
Option C
This one is the one I like so far as long as every one is honest and doesn't try to cheat. But we will stick to a certain class of cars. I will simply pick a race type in GT and any car that can enter that race type can be used.
ex: The touring series in european races. Only european touring cars are allowed. If your car can enter that its calid. MR class race. Any MR class car is calid. 1000lb series, any car under 1000lb in weight is valid. You do what ever upgrades you want except tires will be the only thing that will be preset.
I like the last one cause I would love to see the variety of cars, see what you guys like to drive, and see who has the balls to be creative and go for a untraditional car.
the second one ensures that everything is fair across the board but people may end up getting stuck with a car they hate. I hate driving the skyline. Infact I dont like many of the 4WD cars so I would be **** out of luck and have to drive something I didnt like if it was picked.
The first one maintains variety and will get people to have to work with their car on a budget. We would have to see what you could come up with. And a used car might allow you some flexibility if you find the right one ;) or we could say no used cars just to be jerks lol

Option A sound intriguing but will be hard to modulate. Guess it comes down to trust, i.e it won't work, lol

Jan 30, 2008, 6:04 PM
Just pick up a used car...tune it...then count the price off all the mods you put on it...then the cost of the car...simple really.
Though like you said people can't be trusted anymore. I myself would not cheat. I don't like having people find out that I cheated....

The thing I don't like about the HPA is the gearing.
You have to mess with the gearing a bunch just to get any speed outta it.
With me I like my cars to hit 180 at the minium, 230 and the most. *cough Skyline V-Spec Nur*cough*:)

Thats why I like the Lotus Elise. Its got some mad speed for so little horse power. Key is you have to do weight reductions imo to make the car worth while. Though I don't know how well it does vs other cars like a skyline. I know i can take out aston martins like a fat kid in dodge ball.
I would give all weight classes in metric. You wil lbe able to see all restrictions your self as we would be using the same exact race classes with in the game itself.
But lets see who else puts in an opinion. at this rate we will randomly pick between A and C =P
I am glad so many ppl seem to be interested!
Also for anyone who needs money I can give you a really fast race to do it. Go to the special condition races. I cant think of what rack it is, trying to remember the land marks, might be costa de sarthe or something like that. But finish both races, they are only one or two laps each i cant remember. you win a 300,000 car. and you can win it with the first car you buy with some upgrades and good driving
TBR 427
Jan 30, 2008, 9:20 PM
^^^THAT'S THE SECOND EVENT IN THE SPECIAL CONDITIONS.
Almalfi Coast is where it's help, on easy, and make sure you clear previous results so you can win another car.
You win a Toyota RSC prototype rally car, and sell for approx 265,000 Cr.
EDIT: you've all got one (or both) of the 1886 benz wagens, don't you? How about setting the fastest 1/4 mile in one of those things :D
My best: 1min 14sec :D:):D:):D:)

Nooo, the best way to earn money is the European championships DTM race. On B-spec it's even easier; 150,000 Cr. each time... but you win a CLK-GTR race car that sells for 743,000 Cr. ! Only take about 10 minutes on B Spec

We should run Option A with a set tire compound that is not included in the 100,000 cr.

Yeah, that actually is a better option, though you have to spend $500,000+ on a DTM car to win it easily.

Option C sounds good.
There should be a set tire compound across the board. I did the um... Challenges with the Nissan Micro racecar with racing slicks vs Evos STIs and RX7s with road tires. It's an incredible difference.
Also, with Option C we get to tune our cars or do the cars we have to choose must be stock but fit in the parameters of appropriate car for the race series you choose?

tires will not count in the 100,000 and will be preset. We will go with option C. I am out of town for the weekend, but I am putting some stuff together in my mind for this. When I get back on Monday I will set up the sign ups, And by next saturday we will start the series!
You can buy any new or used car. You have to buy the car, you cannot use a car you won. You will have to give me the car, and all of the upgrades you bought for it. you cna use any car or truck if you wish that you want. They will not have to meet a specific race restriction or nationality or drive train etc...
car price does come out of the 100,000 in case some one didnt know

But surely the most wise person who chooses the best car and best upgrades with that amount of cash will win, not the best driver. I tried this with 20,000cr. in a comp once. Had to be a used car and we could only do an oil change, and Breakfan smoked me because he got a Skyline or RX7 or something.:(

lol jamesy, well to be honest I think we should all be driving the same car, or simply NOT allow modifications. Like that "driver skill" is rewarded, not your tuning ability.
TBR 427
Feb 03, 2008, 5:05 AM
Then how would you know whether something's been tuned of not?
I say just naming a car, and letting everyone do what they please with it - both their driving skill, and their ability to set up the car to suit them will be rewarded.

IGNORE MY LAST POST!
Every one is saying option C, which is we select a class, not 100,000. I will select select a class when I get back on Monday. Every one will have afew days to decide what car they want to use. All you have to do is post the car you want.
The only upgrade banned will be no nitrous every thing else, you can do with teh car waht you want. You can use any car that fits into the category. You can do any upgrades you want. Every one will use the same tires.
Giving every one the same car is kind of lame in my opinion. Every one has different taste. You are going to have to find a balane between skill and preference and performance in your car. If every one upgrades their car then every one is playing with highly tuned machines, but all with in teh same category.
We can have a horsepower limit if you think that would be fair? I dont want some lamo dude finding a 2000 HP car vs our 400 hp
