(NOTE: first impression)
I saw an XBOX game cover with a Gumpert Apollo at Blockbuster. It caught my attention, so I read the back. "REALISTIC PHYSICS..."
*ding ding ding* My instinct tells me it's a simulator. The fact that it mentioned rally racing was a plus. But little did I know that this game is FAR FROM A SIMULATOR!!!!!
So when I arrived, I was anxious to find out how great the game was. I was hoping it would be as good as Konami's "Enthusia Professional Racing". Enthusia stomps this game easily. Even GT4 stomps this game, and it's a bad simulator.
I got hit HARD. The intro implied it was just another NFS bullsh1t game. No, not the games before High Stakes(those kicked ass), I'm talking about "NFS:U crappy". Crashes, crashes, PS1-like graphics, and street racing.
When the menu screen appeared, I went into the options. I chose my transmission (manual, duh), controls (shift on triggers), and physics style(applies to free race). The physics option gave me a gleam of hope that it would be realistic. I put it on full simulation, but it only applies to free race.
I went to free race (or whatever it was called) to feel how realistic it is. It turns out, you absolutely HAVE TO play career mode to unlock free race. My first race implied it was an arcade game. Not-so-great graphics, unusual exhaust note, crappy shifting, and on/off steering REALLY DISAPPOINTED ME. As soon as I did more races, I realized that all cars have that damn same monotone exhaust note. The damage isn't near as realistic as the Forza series.
Does anyone have any experience with this game??? Is it really a simulator??? Does it get any better or does it keep that unrealistic feel? Game reviews don't help, as they are all biased and most of them do not appreciate simulation racing games. Please comment!!!.....

Is it really?
no, but i can see how playing with a controller can make the cars handle like crap. Buy the steering wheel like i did, it will change your mind i promise...

^my parents would kill me if I purchased a steering wheel... *sigh*
But it does not change the fact that the steering has that on/off feel, which screams "arcade game".....

SubaruKid37 has this game and he said it was realistic, but I've never played it. If you're looking for a simulator with high performance cars, real tracks and real racing look into GTR and GTR2, those are great games. Also, try out the 'Race' series aswell.

lol... I don't really like simulators. I play video games to do just that... play video games. If I want to drive a car I'll go drive a car.

Rfactor's pretty realistic if you know where to get good addons.

I'll give it another chance. I'm going to play it right now.
I'd like to hear from SubaruKid himself.....

I have never played world racing. I will give you three letters from the worst arcade styled racing game ever... SRS (Street Racing Sydicate) its awful. Its so easy to beat. Physics and sound I don't like. The only thing that was accurate was how the vavle cover looks on the car engine.
BTW, don't get Juiced 2 for the PS2 its awful, also.

ive played the demo, or whatever that was, cracked whatsoever, it was the WR1, not the second one like this one, but it was perfect, sounds were great, it was all volkswagens and skodas in it and the second was like full of Mercs, licenses and those stuff, but heck, the damage of that thing is absolutley amazing, the dust covering on the car, amazing, its a lovely game, except for the dials which i dont really like, but other than that, great game...
not really a simulator...me thinks
talk about Race WTCC, i got it, registered it on Steam, and i found my graphics card wasnt good enough...LAWL!

I know the horrors of SRS. I played it. I didn't know that Subaru made a RWD Impreza
I don't like non-simulation games, so I wouldn't even think about purchasing Juiced anyways.
Mine too...
Wait...
Are you talking about a real steering wheel?
I'm talking about the steering wheel controller...
I was actually surprised that the game isn't THAT unrealistic. (I finally unlocked Free Run) Simply put, it's a combination of both simulation and arcade racing games. I could explore without the pressure of racing, and I could race against the unforgiving AI in a physics system I am still adapting to.
It's a good game just in case I (if I ever) bore of the awsome line up of simulation games I currently own, ranked from best to worst:
Enthusia Professional Racing (PS2) [Konami]
ToCA Race Driver 3 (XBOX and many other consoles) [CodeMasters]
Forza Motorsport (XBOX) [Microsoft]
Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) [Polyphony Digital/Sony Computer Entertainment]
[I]Semi-simulation:
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 ("Shutoku Battle 2"??? in Japan; PS2) [Genki]
Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift ["Kaido Battle" in Japan; PS2) [Genki]
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (PS, other consoles?) [Electronic Arts]
EDIT:
I played it a third time, and I am definitely getting this game. I played on the Test Track on Free Race, and that's the only game I have that has a rally circuit (rallycross by definition) that has water in it  It's huge fun, and I absolutely MUST get this game. Also, exploring places is fun....

in the options turn it from 100% Arcade to 100% simulator.
Plus you have 2 things that go against you, 1st you probably have the US version of the game, the Euro (german) version is much better, plus on PC it is fully customiseable, and I have a wheel, so all in all it really is very good, plus the add-on cars now are much better than the original cars and they are really great.
It really is one of my favourite games, its good graphically and the dynamics (on the PC) are great...
