Well, 9,748 to be exact. I was reading C & D and I couldn't resist. 16 Cars worth 2.1 million battle head to head. These are true super tuners. NONE of the cars listed below are "under the influence" of nitrous or wet injection. All cars must run on 93 Octane gas and have tires with a 140 tread rating. All of the below times are measured with a Racelogic GPS-based test radar. Here goes..
The first section here is all sedans (cars that have 36 or more cubic feet in the rear seat)

This is the comparison for the fastest car around the track, not the performance numbers. Keep in mind, raw numbers arent everything. The numbers are more of a guide. Use previous info that you know about that car, and PLEASE do NOT look at C & D before I give the results. I will give the results on the 20th of October. Debate on which car you think will win! Tell why your car will kick his cars arse! Give a detailed response, and be sure to explain your choice. The coupes are still to come so bare with me..

I never heard of these cars. Unless the 2004 HPA Motorsports Stage II Twin Turbo R32 is a Skyline or a Golf ,but those numbers are to high for a Golf. I'm so confused :smt095

Out of the cars listed so far i say the Vishnu Mitsubishi Evolution
I picked this car cause i personally think that the weight of a V8 will dull track performace.
so that left me with the Evo, the R32 and the M3
The M3's performance i didnt think was that good, its acceleration numbers not quite to my liking
and then the evo and R32 are fairly closely spec'd but i think the evo would be better for track work
Depending on what other cars are added later my decision might change

I guess the Gold can get to be that powerful...
I can't decide between the M3 and the Evo :?

I'd take either the R32 TT or the Mallet CTS-V. Both are amazingly delicious.

Oct 13, 2004, 8:37 PM
Well.. i choose the EVO.. but other close followers were the R32, M3, and the Mallet CTS-V.
The EVO is also the cheapest, i believe at 45k USD, about 10k cheaper than a stock CTS-V

I read the article already... :x
Anyways, my favorite would be: The last place one in the contest, the one that didn't finish.

Ghalos, you can still give your opinion on which car you would choose and why, just dont give away the answer. :)

Good point, I really liked that one though...Anyways...
My choice: 2004 Lingenfelter 427 CTS-V
The torque, the natural aspiration, the cubic inches, the style, the EVERYTHING!!!

I'm going with the Lingenfelter CTS-V. 510hp NA  and numbers that are better than classic muscle cars. 4 doors, room for 5. What more could you want?
My second choice would be the R32 TT. So what if the 0-60 is the worst, the 1/4 mile is quick.
Thanks for ruining the results Ghalos. :x jk

i think i'm changing my mind to the Mallett CTS-V after doing some more research and looking into it a little more, i think that would be a much better competitor, And the 750 HP, 720lb-ft torque engine is just mindboggling http://www3.telus.net/planetkevin/files/ForumPics/Smilies/uhoh3.gif
though it doesnt have the highests 0-60, or 1/4 mile, i think it'll be the fastest around the track

I'm guessing that those are the results of the track test. That's cool cause they were supposed to be posted on Friday.

hands down, the Evo. It's probably the lightest car here, one of only three with AWD, and I know it can run with huge horsepower big boys as it did in the One Lap of America competition. No doubt, best handling car, bar none the fastest around the track. I'd honestly poke one of my own eyes out to own any of these sweet super modded rides though.

are we sure on those numbers for the R32? I swear it's mid three second 0-60 car. Seriously, look at the deviation in the 0-60 vs 1/4 mile times comapred to the rest . :?:

3.2 seconds i believe.

what're you talking about?Im talking about how the Hennessey won the Supercar class in the Car and Driver Super Tuner shootout. The Authority I was talking abot can be seen in this article from the last supercar Tuner challenge (its the one in second)http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=35&article_id=283 4 to raith car and driver has crappy drivers I mean they really suck

IMO
its either the EVO or the M3
Both of them are realtively light and from what i've read/heard the M3 is balanced.
Same goes to the EVO
The RS6 is too heavy to get any decent track times (unless there's a lot more straights)
hehe then the nible r32 with a boat-lod of HP.
haha i'll say M3, just from gut instinct
so hard to decide....

The results are in...
1st Place - Mallett CTS-V
Road Course : 50.8 secs.
Total Course : 103.9 secs.
2nd Place - Vishnu Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
A broken intercooler hose that wouldn't stay put kept this beastly 4 banger out of first place.. by .2 seconds.
Road Course : 48.5 secs.
Total Course : 104.1 secs.
3rd Place - (tie) Lingenfelter 427 CTS-V
Road Course : 50.2 secs.
Total Course : 107.5 secs.
3rd Place - (tie) HPA Motorsports Stage II TT R32
Road Course : 51.0 secs.
Total Course : 107.5 secs.
5th Place - RENNtech CL55
Road Course : 51.3 secs.
Total Course : 110.1 secs.
6th Place - Active Autowerke M3
Road Course : 50.3 secs.
Total Course : 112.7 secs.
7th Place - Hoppen/MTM RS 6
Road Course : 51.9 secs.
Total Course : 117.5 secs.
Do you agree with the standings? What car should be higher/ lower?
The coupes are coming in later today..

same here, M3 6th??

Oct 15, 2004, 10:31 PM
I'll explain why the M3 did so poorly.
"the M3 simply did not have enough power to compete with these cars". \
I dont know if thats the exact quote, but you get the idea.
Attaus
Oct 16, 2004, 10:55 AM
Yep. The M3 simply did not have enough power. It had the lowest amount of hp and torque in the class. Even though the LPE CTS had better performance numbers in the comparo, the Mallett CTS has ample amounts of torque (720+lb-ft) which slung this thing around the corners and really payed off at 80+mph. In the higher MPH range the performance times for the Mallett was significantly better.

The evo should've gotten 1st...... :D

yeah, it's sucks when some glich puts a sweet car in a lower position. At least i still got second even with some malfunctions.

Oct 17, 2004, 11:34 AM
you think the Evo should've beaten that 700+ hp mallet CTS-V? No way. Even if the Vishnu didn't have any problems, the mallet still would've won. Why? It's a better road car. More refined. It got 5 stars for driveability, while the vishnu got the lowest in it's class with 3 stars. They said the turbo lag was terrible.

One reservation............ Wont these cars be classed as high performance cars and not supercars. To get that performance they have obviously been tweeked so technically these cars can't be classed as supercars but as modified cars!

Nov 02, 2004, 11:07 PM
oh, I'd also like to point out that the Evo only cost about $56k TOTAL. That's way less than half the cost of the Mallet CTS-V. The next least expensive car wasthe M3 wich was over $75,000. :? cough, repalcement of dispalcement? yeah, Technology over mindless power I say, and for SO much less money! It's scary.
igaboj
Nov 02, 2004, 11:56 PM
Aww man.. Evo was behind by .2 secs? Cause of an intercooler hose? That sucks, but it doesn't matter whether you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning.

Unless the 2004 HPA Motorsports Stage II Twin Turbo R32 is a Skyline or a Golf ,but those numbers are to high for a Golf. I'm so confused
yeah,i think the top speed for the r32 is 202mph,and 0-60 is 3.2 seconds

It's the R32 GTI, the car with which VW said goodbye to this generation of Golf. It's the AWD 3.2 liter 6 cyl version of the Golf. HPA adds two turbo's to it, giving it 500 HP and AWD.
