I havent seen a bike comparison before so i decided to do one. This is comparing the large Supermotos on the market. The purpose of supermotos, for anyone who does not know, is to be great not offroad but through rough, small, twisty roads. KTM has ruled the market for ages with the KTM 950 Supermoto R but now it has a rival the Ducati Hypermotard. This comparison is to see which of these bikes you think would best live up to being a supermoto.

I'd go for the Duke if given these two as a choice, although personally i'm more of a VStrom fan.

Yes the suzuki is a good bike but its not a supermoto, so obviously i cant include it.
I'm still not sure which i'd choose, the duke's engine's not that great, whereas the ktm's is and apparently the duke isnt great through twisty corners because of heavy steering.

the ducati for me,But I hate motorcycles they kill so many people.

Thats a bit off topic but in the UK the number of people using motorcycles is going up and the number of deaths falling and obviously more people are killed per year by cars.

i want to ask, this..
- stability
that means like bad stability dosent it?
but heck, id still get the Ducati, for the famous italian soul of the bikes that they made, although i think that KTM have made very nice Supermoto or KTM cars whatever they are called, but i believe that they build great ones also, but i see so much good stuff in the ducati, the riding position is good as said, low power wont probably matter because thats probably a whole lot more than what i need and plus its got more torque but having only 3 horsepower less, and even lighter, turn in speed wont matter to me as well as i wont go getting the back out while turning corners and stuff...and so, ill have the fairly cheaper and probably better one, the ducati, plus the sound is pretty cool, hypermotard, sounds like a hyperb@st@rd, but heck! lol
long time since bike comarisons were made though, they were made before, but they are getting more rare lol

This is a no brainer, the Ducati...'cause I love the sportiness and Ducati is one of my favorite bike manufactures. I love they're 999R.

I think i will go with the duke, just, over the ktm because it is a good allrounder and a better price.

As in automatic transmission? I don't know a whole lot about motorcycles, but automatic sports bike sounds like an oxymoron.
I'd definitely rather have the Ducati. If I wanted to ride a bike for fun on twisty roads, I'd much rather shift for myself.

Then that makes this comparo too easy:
I'll choose the Ducati.
BTW, I thought Supermoto was a combination of on and off-road racing! Can someone correct me?!?!.....

I explained what the purpose of the supermoto was in the first paragraph and said that these supermotos were for the road and not for offroading or supermoto races. And I called it the 'Big Supermoto Showdown' because they are the largest and most powerful on the market.

You are right the ktm is not a automatic it is a 6 gear manual claw shift which i am sure of and i have never heard anywhere that it is an automatic.

You know, I searched your old posts and found this:
no, moving the monitor shouldnt harm it (unless you gave it a 60 yard punt :P). you should be able to fix the problem by degausing the monitor. to do this you should open the monitor options (using the buttons that are on the monitor), and look for an option called Degauss ( it may be a picture of a magnet in one of those circles with a slash through it) and do that. if done correctly, the monitor piicture should shake and the colours should return to normal. if you need more help i am on msn - tubby_canna@hotmail.com (tubby_canna@hotmail.com).
Good luck! That was posted in the misc section in a thread about computers... But WAIT! This is "sportsCARforums.com"...
Why don't you keep your hypocritical comments to yourself...
the ducati for me,But I hate motorcycles they kill so many people.lol... Motorcycles, like guns, DO NOT kill people. That's damn near the most ignorant statement I've seen you make. Idiots that THINK they know how to ride hard kill people on motorcycles.

Oh, I take back what I said. But the result is the same, I'll choose the Ducati, since it's lighter. Is it a 6-speed transmission as well???.....

It's fine and yes the ducati has a 6 speed transmission too.

I'll take the KTM. I know KTM make great bikes because my friend has a KTM 250 and he's taken it to numerous tracks and I know all about that bike. Would be awesome if he got a Ducati but it's too expensive for him right now. I'd probably take the KTM, although in British Superbikes the Hondas and Ducatis are doing very well.

I think KTM's are great bikes but, I have to go with the Ducati. The only reason why is because it has a six speed transmission.

That makes more sense.
In that case, I'd rather have the KTM based on the description and my experience on a mountain bike. Tight and twisty roads need quick steering, not lots of stability. The soft suspension could be a hinderance when accelerating and braking, but it should help keep the tires on the road over mid-corner holes and bumps. Soft shocks are tolerable as long as they don't bottom out or act like trampoline springs and make the bike bounce.
Then again, motorcycles are a lot heavier and travel a lot faster than any mountain bike (except for downhill MTB which I don't do). So my intuition may be totally off.

Why don't you keep your hypocritical comments to yourself....
And why don't you get a sense of humour and realise that it was a joke?

If you look to the immediate right of the word "why" you will notice a small green circle that appears to be grinning. It is my understanding that this particular smiley is generally used when someone is making a joke, or having a friendly go at someone. In this case, it was a mixture of the two. If you feel that making a joke warrants telling me off and calling me hypocritical then fine, whatever's clever, but why not just PM me? For whatever reason you felt the urge to "pwn" me in front of everyone, so you decided to search through my posts (admittedly not a hard task) and found a post I made that wasn't to do with sports cars. Well done, you caught me, I made a post that wasn't about cars.
Now, I respect you monkey - I respect the knowledge you bring to SCF, I respect the kindness you show to newer members when they make mistakes, I respect your cars and your trucks, and I respect the fact that you are older than me, and therefore much more experienced with cars and general "life stuff" - and I like to think that someday I can aspire to become even half as cool as you are, with sphincter tearing drag cars and classic muscle cars growing amongst the weeds in my yard, but when someone calls me a hypocrite and embarrasses me in front of others for the wrong reasons, that annoys me. It annoys me enough to retaliate, which is something I would not usually do.
There have been a few times during my first year on SCF that I have been annoyed (mostly after something car_buff has said - car_buff, you really have a gift for getting under people's skin:D), but I have kept a level head, played it cool and haven't retaliated. Usually, this is because I have stood up, stretched my legs, got a coffee (insert whatever you do to "cool down" here) and have sat back down and read through car_buff's [annoying] post, and usually on reading through his post, I have realised "Hey, I guess he's right", "I guess he has a point" or "Hey, I get it, he's joking."
However, when you read through my post, you obviously didn't realise the context in which the statement was made. I was making a joke, having a laugh, playing on the fact that SCF is a mostly car related forum, and therefore naturally there weren't going to be many bike threads. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone, or make Rich0984 look like an idiot, I was just trying to bring a laugh or two to SCF. Call me an attention whore, whatever, I can deal with that, but DO NOT try to make me look stupid by calling me a hypocrite. I don't mind being the centre of a joke, or being laughed at - hey i'm used to being laughed at, cos until I finished school last year, I was "the fat guy", Kindergarten through Grade 12. I've been beaten up, teased, and I've never had a girlfriend, but never - not ONCE - have I retaliated when provoked. I'm calm enough to realise retaliation usually just gets you laughed at more. Calling me fat has almost become a compliment, it's like the old saying goes "water off a duck's back", but inferring that I am a hypocrite is plain old BS.
I'm not looking for an apology - all I'm asking is that next time you decide to "punk" someone, read their post, check the context, and if it all checks out, then fine - go for it. But don't just go ahead and do it, because you might find that you have really hurt and embarrassed a member that didn't really deserve it, and that subsequently you might have turned them away from a forum that they thought was great, but now thinks is just another place to be made fun of. Nice one.

Rich, i'll vote because you told me too lol.
Well i prefer the KTM, it has quicker acceleration, and looks rather wicked. Could be lighter or have a tad more power. But still i like it alot.
So KTM for me.

Doesn't BMW make one of these types of bikes? I'd take it because I've got a friend who works at a BMW bike dealership and I've seen those puppies up close.
BMW makes some sick bikes. If they made cars as good as they made bikes these days, they'd make some wicked good cars.

BMW have recently launched the HP2 Megamoto which is a large supermoto but i didn't include it because only a small amount are being made and the extremely high price tag of £12,595 (UK) puts it pretty much out of reach of the other two bikes and it is not really worth that much extra money.
