Do you have any year in mind? It's been around for quite along time and has gone trhough alot of changes.
Aw, poor Cavalier is being axed in favor for a new compact, tenatively called the Colt. The only Cav I've been in was a 1990 with a stick and it was an okay car. It was a family hand me down car of a freinds who I drove once to pick him up from school. The engine was working really hard and is jerked me around like it was going fast, but it was a huge illusion....
Most people don't realize how much a diffrence it makes if soemone takes care of their car or not. Thats how you judge how well a car stands the test of time and miles. If someone's taken quite good care and it fails, then the build quality os poor, if it fails and has been through like 4 bad owners, of course you can't tell. The Cavailier I drove has over 140k miles on it and needs new head gaskets and a tune up, big time. My freind claims it gets 23-24 mpg in the city and around 28 on the highway. I don't really beleive him.

Cavalier..............it wasn't that bad when it just came out, now it's not that good. It's a bit boring, the chassi feels to soft to drive fast but it's very harsh, i dont really like chevy interiors, specially the steering well, and that high performance version, lucily is not being produced because it was a turbo and big tires, nothing else, i think the replacemnt would be the next gen astra, that would be a good choice, as the cavalier itself was based on an Opel something, next astra doesnt look that bad.

About a year ago I road in a cavilier, i am embarrassed to admit it but i did, lets just say the exprience was on par with riding in an old Mini that has no roof and absolutely no suspension, what ever you do dont even come near one!

The Cavalier is what it is...an entry level sedan/coupe and nothing more. It's not impressive in styling, ammentities, or the overall driving experience...but it's definitely no the worst car on the road.
The Cavalier, funny enough, ranks as one of the most popular vehicles to purchase (and to be stolern). It's all about what you get for the price. With a new Ecotec 2.2 4cyl., its got the engine reliability that customers are looking for.
If you want the same marginal performance with a different look, try the Pontiac Sunfire on for size. They're the same vehicle (other than the skin).

the ecotec engine is actually one of the best engines in the ecno box catogory, but if i was in the market for a car like the cavalier i would be reluctunt to buy one

How slick would it be to put Chevy's 3.4L V6 in the Cavie? Put it on one of the sport coupe models, dual exhaust, 5 speed (with ANY other clutch than what's in it now...cause it is horrible)......
Now we're gettin there....

well guess what? they stopped making Z24's :P anyway, they started to suck. the last generation's had 150-160hp V-6's! how many of the engineers were hung and passed out over when they were making that engine?

The 3rd generation Z's have 4 cylinders not them crappy 3.1L V6's. The 2.4L Quad4 has 150hp 155ft lbs and the 2000-2002 2.4's mated with the Getrag tranny are capable of running 15.3's stock. I have a 1999 automatic and on a nice cool day i can break the tires loose going into 3rd. I'm not stock but hey thats still good for a 4 cylinder!
I love my car and it has surprised ALOT of ppl!
