Many people dream about modifying they're cars to the fullest extent of their imagination, but there's always you're wallet's size and other things that take up space before your car, an example is eating, but I've heard of people getting sponsors, what all that about?

Sponsors are another term of paying for advertisement. They pay money to that particular team, and they post their brand onto their car. Plain and Simple.

it can work in a few ways
say you get sponsored by a company that builds stuff for your car in order for it to perfrom better
they give you free parts, and stickers and clothes you have to wear to events, and you do well in said events
some compies do the same thing but for looks only
in other cases you can get sponored by a company unrelated to cars, but whose cliental may be of the same type who would show up the the type of event you plan to take your vehicle. they give you money, you buy stuff and advetise for them at the same time.
it's apparently kind of hard to get a sponsorship, but im sure if you were really determined, kind of knew what you were doing, you could get a sponsor ship fairly easily

My bro-inlaw says that if you get sponsored you have to go to shows, like Car buff said. And something like you cant drive your, sponsored car, alot. Not put to much miles into it or something. I dont know if thats true but yeah...

A damn good definition of sponsorship right there. Can't really think of anything else to add.

I think the definition of sponsorship is covered.
I will add a little tip here. Go to a sign making shop, and get a sheet of the magnetic material they use for making business signs for the side of cars. Apply your stickers to that, and then cut around them. That makes all the advertisement easily removable

If you have a nice car and work for a garage or mod shop they will likely sponsor you to advertise the shop.
They get you cheap/free parts and you and your buds install them on your own time.
Then put the shops name like "mod performance" or whatever as a sticker across the top of your windsheild and usually on the back.
Thats the only way to really do it, is if you work there, or know someone who works there.

What would happen if you get sponsored, get all the parts on your car, then tell the sponsor to get lost and stop going to shows for them but keep the mods on your car? Do they take them back? They've been used. Maybe they refurbish them, if they even do that with car parts.
You sign a contract.
If you say FU, they just charge you for the parts...remember its a custom shop anyways, they want people to take stuff as long as they pay for it.
No sense in taking them back, its expensive and it takes too long.

Ahaaaa, I see. I never even thought of that one: they charge you for it. I just might get a sponsor for my future McLaren F1...
Theyd probably crap themselves if you gave them the chance for such a thing.
Imagine having your custom shop's name on a Mclaren, they would give you anything you wanted including "favors" if you know what I mean and you do.:-k

that would be counterproductive. You would never have another sponsor. Once word got around, all the local shops would also refuse your business, or mark prices way up for you. You would also find the pits at local race tracks to be very unfriendly places. Most experienced racers think of the racing crowd as an extended family. Even racers who do not get along will help each other out. If you prove yourself unworthy of their family, you might as well find another sport

^just to add to what to what heretic is saying from my onw experience its amazing at how generous othere racers are. When I went with my family friends racing we probably wouldnt have been able to run the fastest times we could if it hadnt been for other racers who had steped up and leant us things. For example we needed a tranny blanket and within 2 mins of it being announced one the loudspeaker a team steped forward and gave use a brand new tranny blanket for $30. They probably would have given it to use for free if we didnt demand we pay them for it.
