That's one of the stupidest thing i ever heard.(No ofense) The M3 and the M5 are the top models for the 3 and the 5 series. I'm asking you...have you ever driven a 320i? I drove one yesturday and felt reel sporty for a 4 door car. the 330i is a very, very good car, stright six and 231 hp with lots of tuning potential. I looked over the model list and saw that the diesels are very good also and have a good mileage for the hp they deliver. I think all the engines from bmw are very good, one of the best engines on the planet, hell the engine from the mclaren f1 is made with BMW M departament. Regarding the Mercs, i have a few things to say. 1 good cars, luxurious but with a higher price tag, unjustified most of the time.2 I will only buy a merc only when i'll be 60 years old. Now if you asked me between audi and bmw hmmm that would be a problem. But more and more i give up to rwd and to the super engines from Bmw.

want me to other cars than 320i that can beat it all day long? audi A4 1.8T, Mazda 6 2.3i, Mondeo Zetec, Accord, i could keep going all day long.

Damn even my Focus can take them on twisties, i think BMWs are great cars but their lesser models are just badges, everyone thinks because they are bimmers they are unbeatable, so they pay a lot. Then, I would love to have a BMW 330ci, but IT IS A LOT OF MONEY for a 225hp car.

You have a point there with those cars vs the 320i. BMW kinda lost track with hp figures with this engine. hell the ford focus ST has 180hp, that's 10 more hp than the bmw engine.Considering a drag, those cars probably would beat the bmw, but when it gets twisty having a revvy NA 2 liter and rwd, doesn't compare with turbos and fwd, neither on times nor @ feeling. Althogh it's kinda samefull to think how the civic type r that gets out of the same 2 liter 200hp and brakes bmw at hp/liter. I saw in a magazine a bmw 330 Ci so good looking i didn't belive my eyes first. It was equipped also with a supercharger and some methanol thing for cooling if i recall. Anyway there's no reason to make me change my vote. And yeah you were right when you said that guys with 320i or so, think they are invincible just because they have a bmw emblem on their car. You are so right, there are so many of them. By the way did you ever see a bmw 323i M3 :lol: :lol:

That's only one man's opinion. I personally love all the new BMW which were 'Bangalized'. 6 Series, 5 Series, Z4, X3, 7 Series, 3 Series, 1 Series, all are masterpieces.

I would easily take a BMW over any MB any day, maybe providing an exception to the CLS55 AMG or the SLK55 AMG. MB's are more luxury, while BMW's are more sporty, and I know which one I want...

I gave my vote to BMW because i like the new styling. I don't like only new 7 series. Other cars are good or very good or like M5 awesome.

The rest don't suck. Bimmers are all performance machines. (most of them)

Grr...these people really piss me off. How in the world could you compare a BMW 320i with a WRX STi? These cars are directed at completely different people! First of all, the STi is a rally-bred, sports car. Sure, it's a good gadget, and at a very good price, but compared to the BMW, of course it's gonna win, how couldn't it? The BMW is a semi-sporty four-door sedan for people who want a fairly more upmarket car, and don't need a fast car and wants a high-quality car with a reputable brand.

Not everyone who are in the market for a car want speed along with it. If so, everyone would be driving STi's and EVO's and going 100km/h everywhere! SO do you think that old people at the age of 80 or so should be driving Ferrari's instead of BMW's just becuase they are slow? OF COURSE NOT!! And sure, if you like STi's you can say that, but don't go around saying that BMW's and other cars are crap, because they aren't. Would you like me saying that EVO's are waaay better than STi's because they are faster and that STi's are a POS? Of course not; actually respect what people want, not just what you want.

Well, boo hoo if the six-cylinder is underpowered, doesn't mean it's not a beast of an engine. STi engines aren't the best in the world either! Laggy, over-sensitive engines. It's not even that good compared to other engines anyway. It is also underpowered compared to other engines, and some which are even NA. Most M Engines for example, when you think about the power-to-weight ratio. Do you see the STi engine winning the Performance Engine Of The Year every year? Of course not. I bet BMW engines, for M Models are not, have won more awards than you STi.

Does AWD really make a difference? Sure, it has lots of grip in all conditions, but it also produces understeer. RWD is the best configuration, which ALL BMW's have. RWD can provide both understeer and oversteer and also the handling is better. I believe BMW's dynamics could easily beat the STi's and most other cars you could think of as well.

Think of what you say, since now, you have made a lot of enemies, especially me. You are extremely biased and immature! You really annoy me, just becuase of that post..

I do think that the most new BMW's are ugly, but i would still prefer a 5-serie over the E-class from MB.

Listen, you. I may have not test driven a Bimmer, but the body work and stats are VERY good. Besides, it's that expensive because you are buying the name BMW.

You made some good points there, and yeah you cant talk to people with such a high bias.

About the other post, i wasnt talking about a drag race, i remember a test between a Mercedes C230, an Accord 2.4? an320i and a Mondeo Zetec 2.0. I expected the bimmer to kick ass around the track, and even though the driver said it provided the best feel, it lost, wasnt that quick, first was the Mondeo then the Merc (because the engine i think) and the Bimmer. I read this test because i'm a Ford fan, but talking objectivelly and having driven both a Mondeo ST220 and a 330i (225hp) i would go to the Mondeo, looks better for me, undesteer and torque steer were not big deal, i could even get the tail out with a lil foot work, is fast, understated and provides the best steering feel ever. And i could afford that and another compact for the same price of the bimmer.

The bimmer interior is miles ahead, it's steering feel is almost as good, and the engine sounds arvelous, but kinda lacks a bit of punch (the Mondeo V6 does too), RWD is great for the track, right, but the average driver can find more trouble with RWD than FWD (now with ESP and TCS thats not a problem tho), the new 3 series with the 258hp straight six should be a great car, lets hope bangle doesnt srew it too bad

Im not too fond of German cars really,i mean they are ok but their reliability issues and stuff,like the VW jettas have a bunch of problems.And a lot of people hate the I drive system on BMW's.Below IMO i think are the best German cars.But these below are probably the best German cars you can find in the german catagory.And no i havnt test drove a BMW have you viper?? probably not.so "ha ha ha in your face"

Mercedes Benz Wins my vote for best German cars in the german catagory.

Technically all new BMWs are the best you can get on the market, real Masterpieces! Making a test drive and you know it with a smile. :)

i can't stand bangle. Way too edgy for me. Why can't they just be simple and classy like mercedes? It's too new age euro for me. I'm just a simple american boy, i don't need those crazy headlights and weird body lines. That kind of styling is for them fancy city folk. Give me a good ol 740i, and i'm happy.

1. I like all the new designs by Bangle except the 7-series (ok, I also prefer the E46 over the E90, but the latter is not bad...). The new 5-series and the 1-series look great.
2. About the poll... I would pretty much prefer BMW on any case, except the following: I would prefer S-class over 7-series. And that only when I'm like 60. I prefer sportiness over luxury. BMWs have sufficient luxury too.
3. About the other stuff: M Technik, Malin and Lutz have covered me.

PS: 61987, you will have to mind your posts. If you make posts with only purpose to bash a company you don't like, it will not be tolerated. Talk constructively and politely and you will have no problems with the members of this forum.

Im a big fan of BMW, and to be honest, I was kind of shocked when i first saw the new generation of BMW's.
When the 7 Series came out a couple of years ago, it didn`t seem as a BMW. I was used to the apparience of the E36 and E46 3 Series as well as the E39 5's.
Then, the Z4 came out. Tthat was the first, "new" BMW line. Things really got weird to me when I first saw the new 5. I hated it at first, It reminded me of the Peugeot 607. But then I was invited to the presentation of the new 5, and it was there where I really saw it. The car looks good. Its a true BMW.
It had to change at some point, it has got to find its own identity. Thats what the new generation of BMW looks like.
Personaly, I dont like the new Mercedes'. It gives me the idea of "the car a 70 year old woman drives". i know there are AMG cars, that no granny could drive, but still... it's kind of like a stereotype.
BMW represents dynamism. I'm young, so that's what i go after. Its both, sporty and luxurious.
Now, if you make me choose between a BMW and an Audi. That's where i wouldn´t know what to do.

A car's look is purely subjective. Perfect example.... a riced car.
The owner would put a a big-arse spoiler on his Civic only if and only if he reckons it'll look good on his car.

Same goes to any of the Bangled Beemers. Some people reckon its "pure art", and some reckon its a POS. But the only important thing is the owner likes the design.

The point is, the new beemer is a nice car and the design doesnt suit everyone.

Personally, i'm not a big fan of the new beemer design but I dont reckon they are UGLY.
I'm still not over the rear of the 7-series, but i think the style has grown on me and IMO its gets better everytime i see it.
