From listening, sounds like the skyline won't handle as well as the Turbo. Watch the corner near the end where the skyline follows the Turbo round. The porsche goes round flat, no fuss. When the skyline follows, it's squealing like mad. Say's to me that it's on its edge, or that the traction control isn't all that intrusive.

We're not sure how it all works, but it does work, as the GT-R consistently lapped quicker around Laguna Seca than its Porsche 911 Turbo companion. According to our hand-timed data, the GT-R's fastest lap proved to be a 1:39.62, while the 911 recorded a 1:39.89. Put Walter Rohl behind the wheel of the 911 and it might be a different story, but the GT-R clearly has the kind of power and grip to match up against the best sports cars in the world.

Still doesn't mean I'd take a Skyline over the 911 Turbo though.

That thing makes that Dodge Ram in the video look small.

I think that says enough.

Just watching this video told me that the GTR would be a much harder car to drive at the track than the turbo.

I am quite certain the turbo has the GTR's measure if pushed properly.

Argh! They called it a supercar! Soon the media will start calling MX-5s supercars :p

Looks good, and seems to be handling the tough stuff decently. I wonder how it'll change the GT-R name in terms of its image and popularity.

so what, it rivals the 911 turbo, which is also a rival of the Ford GT, and the ford GT is deffinetly a supercar.:p

£65,000? That's bloody cheap if it's being compared to a 911 Turbo. That's definitely affordable, I would say. You save £30,000 which is a hell of a lot of money if you go with the GT-R instead of the 911. That said, we still have to wait for the officially official version of the GT-R and to wait for the full specifications before we can judge the looks and judge the performance.

I sure wonder where a car video would go on this site??...

I'm diggin' it, the price is actually a bit more than a couple previously predicted ranges, but still, it'll be a bargain since it's basically a 911 Turbo with a Nissan badge.

*thumbs up*

And I'm betting the image surrounding it will die out because the real noobs don't realize GT-R=New Skyline, they're still waiting for an "R-35 GT-R".

Hehe.

Wow, the GT-Rs tyres were squealing a lot during it's lap. It could hit that it's a heavy car or maybe it won't be very good handling. Although it does have a nice engine sound! And also, why did it pass that Ram so slowly, i think it could be faster than that...

In the US the GTR will be priced right at the Z06........480hp vs 500hp

1-911 turbo was faster especially in the corners
2-there was a lot of bodyroll and IMO understeer in GT-R
3-GT-R's engine sound was not good

nice vid, but that GTR was a pain in the @ss.. i dont remember it though, it got me real annoyed before, but its made a comeback, good to see... anyways, i was really hoping for porsche to maintain its spot, i dont want it to be beaten... hopefully..

when people are spending 65k and above on a car
a nissan (makers of the nissan sunny)
or porsche (makers of the awesome 911)
i wouldnt be surprised if this was more of a carrera s competitor.
cause we have seen alot less powered porsches destroy far more powerful alternatives.

oh my god.. that amazing! the skyline is the car that made me love cars even more than i already did! cant wait for it. i actually got a bit bored with waiting for it since the 2001 tokyo motor show.

how many hp did the previous skyline GTR's have?

well, the R34 GTR had around 280 hp, but you can get a lot more power from it by just fiddling with the car's ECU. you can get up to 330 hp without any additional modifications.

You pay £30,000 more because it's built in Germany. Things in Europe cost more than it would be in Japan. Besides the quality of German cars arent all that bad.
