The GT500 isn't supposed to be a fine tuned sports car with precise handling, its a tire melting beast with a bad attitude. Horsepower is the Mustang's best friend.

Is that why the Mustang has won so many Trans Am competitions and just about every single other racing league in which it is allowed to compete in?
No, the Mustang is about doing whatever the hell you want to do in a car that can possibly be done.

They lost time in the turns, but they would make it up on the straights. Guess I kinda went off on a tangent there, but hopefully I made my point.

I find a lot to like in this particular 'Stang, however, those wheels need to go.
The stock pizza rounds are infinitely more aesthetically pleasing:
