Hi there,

As has already been said, Mazda made the RX7 (3rd generation) from 1992 to 2002. Sales of RX7s were stopped in the US and UK during 1995. Not to sure about other markets, but I assume they also stopped at much the same time. Australia may of had the car for a few more years, before it was stopped being sold. Japan remained the only market to have the RX7 sold into it up till 2002.

The "oval" lighted model you refer to, was the Mazda style until 1999. The 1st picture on message #17 (the 2 large pics) is of a 1999-2002 RX7. A host of changes were introduced by Mazda in 1999, the front end was one of them (as seen in the pictures). The Spirit-R was the final special edition released by Mazda, to mark the end of the RX7. It was made between April and August 2002 only. Only 1500 of them were ever produced.

I have a web site I am compiling regarding the SpiritR:

http://www.spiritrx7.com

Cheers,
Andrew

Then how come some 93-95 models in the U.S. have the Spirit R lights?

Maybe people put them on as aftermarket parts?

The lights you refer to as Spirit R lights are the generic Mazda front end fitted to all RX7s from 1999-2002, not just the Spirit R special editions.

If they appear on RX7s before 1999, then they have been bought and retro fitted, as "OBX" has just said.

What do you mean by not authethic?

The car you have linked to is a post-99 RX7 (unless the car has had post-99 parts added, of course). The front end, the rear spoiler and the wheels are all 99on specification. THIS IS THE LOOK OF THE RX7 IF MADE AFTER 1999!

You can of course buy all those parts and add them to an older RX7, to make it look like a newer one. The parts are still authentic, but the car, strictly speaking, therefore isn't.

Alright, knowing Rotary Xtreme inside and out is my personal vendetta here. Now, I'm going to correct a few things here that I'm hearing.

This is the 1992-1998 production of the Mazda RX-7. Now, 92-98 was produced in Japan, but only 93-95 was produced in the States.
http://www.swaqvalley.com/Blueprints...Mazda_RX-7.jpg

This is the 1993-1996 production of the Mazda RX-7 Efini. Only produced in Japan.
http://www.auto.vl.ru/catalog_photos...rx-7_12437.jpg

This is the 1999-2002 production of the Mazda RX-7. These were not produced within the States. However, you can buy the JDM parts of the '99 Spec to put onto your 93-95 Mazda RX-7. These parts are still stock parts. They are just from Japan.
http://www.auto.vl.ru/catalog_photos...rx-7_10175.jpg

This is the 2002 production of the Mazda RX-7 Spirit-R, The last model of the RX-7. Now, seriously, the signal lights on this isn't some special 'Spirit-R' signal lights, these signal lights came on all 'stock' Mazda RX-7s from 1999-2002.
