Here are some random shots of the manifold build progress.

Since I just started TIG welding some of my welds are weird and crappy. Some are pretty good. I'm starting to get a feel for how the puddle flows. On a MIG you make the puddle strictly with the material coming out of the gun. With a TIG you make the puddle with the torch, but then have to add to the puddle with material... Anyways, some of it looks like crap, but I threw some close ups of the good stuff.

As we currently stand.

This thread is a little dead... So update from me.

Fitted poly bushes to my Leon's front wishbones today as one of the rear bushes had failed and was resting on the subframe.

A few pics of the process

The bushes

Clean up and removal of the original bush shells after I pressed the rubbers out.

Pressing the rear bushes in

And a comparison of poly'd vs standard.

Highly recommend anyone else to upgrade to poly bushes, especially FWD. Much more positive feel in corners when giving a push and the limit of understeer is a lot higher.

Nice. How much force to press the bearing in?

Well the instructions said to use a vice to press it in but it kept popping out so used the press and popped straight in. the gauge was sitting at 2 ton pressure most the time until the edge popped past. But it taken about 3 ton just to push the old bushes of their shells.

What durometer of polybushing did you get?

You also know that most of the time poly bushings don't last as long as rubber ones right?

They'll definitely make the car sportier for sure though.

Don't know the grade but these are the road series Powerflex bushes which are designed for Performance and durability so should last plenty long enough. (Black Series is their motorsport bushes and god knows how long they last but do know they're rock solid). And yeah I am aware their service life is less than of a standard rubber bush

How often do they recommend lubing them?

They don't recommend redoing them. They're not designed to move inside the arms once fitted, just flex.

Not Redoing them..

Lubing them...

And if they are powerflex purples...they do recommend lube..

they recommend a Copper based grease for lube....But no word on intervals..

lots of people take the arm/piece and put a tiny tiny groove notch to lube it up when needed,

Ah sorry, I misread that lol. But yeah they don't give an interval but it will be something I'll do a couple times a year.

The main reason I went for them as my mate who works for a motorsport/turbo company sorted me out with a 40% and yeah because of the good rating they get.

Very nice bushings. I run poly bushes in my MK1. And I forgot to lube them when I installed them, so they squeak like crazy.

Here's an update for me:

Finally got the manifold built and back on the road. Ran it for the first time today and looks like I am holding boost longer and actually gained a couple psi. I'm topping at 11psi now, which is a 3psi gain. I am guessing that is because the old manifold leaked like crazy.

I didnt add the diverter valve yet, as I wanted to see if the manifold alone would cut down on the noise for test purposes. The noise levels have gone down, but the high pitch whine is still a little more than I want. So I will add the diverter valve to hopefully help with the noise at idle and cruising speeds.

I also bought a Podi boost gauge so I will try to take some video to show boost to RPM comparisons soon.

Kudos to the people with a project car and having the time to actually work on the cars. This pimping is taking too much of my time.
