Does anybody see a fat S2000 when looking at this picture?

It's the new Jaguar F-Type.

Wait, 47mpg is classed as high?

Dafuq? My fiesta does that and it's not a hybrid green pile.

Well, I am transport engineer (at least I have bachelor degree) and I don't agree with you.
Engine configuration should depend on what is expected from the car. If you want to build fast on a straight line car then you take as big engine as you can and if you want to make the car that goes fast around the corner you take as light engine as you can AND if you want to make fast car in a straight line and in the corners then you take as light and as powerful engine as you can. So turbocharged V8.

Well I'm a real engineer, and I say supercars need V10's or V12's. If they are gonna have a V8, it better make like 1100 horsepower or some crap. Even still, cars like the Koeingsegg and the SSC Ultimate Aero WOULD be cooler if they used a V10 or a V12.

Super cars are suppose to be the most artful exotic cars out there and sound like nothing else around them. How many normal cars do you know of that have a V12? Maybe 2, throughout modern history. How many normal cars have v8's? A shat ton.

You said it yourself, a cars engine configuration should depend on what is expected out of a car. And I expect an exotic supercar to be exotic. Putting a smaller V8 in a ****in supercar and saying it's better is the same ***gy logic that says using a paddle shifter automatic gearbox is better than an actual manual transmission because it's "faster". IT'S NOT THE ****ING POINT!

You are everything that is wrong with cars!

I wonder if those figures are European or US EPA Cycle. There's a big difference.

First pics of the New Accord VIA WorldCarFans:

Quote:
Honda has released the first pictures of the 2013 Accord, ahead of its launch this fall.
Sporting evolutionary styling, the model has a "sophisticated exterior designed to stand the test of time." Starting up front, there's a new grille which is flanked by slimmer headlights. The sedan also features additional chrome trim, while the coupe is distinguished by unique bumpers and revised lighting units.
Interior pictures were not released, but the Accord will be offered with the new HondaLink infotainment system. It tethers to a smartphone to access internet-based radio stations, podcasts and Facebook / Twitter posts.
Under the hood, three engines will be available:
  • A 2.4-liter Earth Dreams four-cylinder with approximately 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque.
  • A 3.5-liter V6 with approximately 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 265 lb-ft (359 Nm) of torque.
There will also be a plug-in hybrid variant which has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine, a 161 hp (120 kW / 163 PS) electric motor, a 6 kWh lithium-ionbattery and an electric continuously variable transmission (E-CVT). This will enable the model to travel 10-15 miles (16-24 km) on electricity alone at speeds up to 62 mph (100 km/h). When the battery is depleted, it can be fully recharged in less than four hours using a 120V outlet or less than 1.5 hours using a 240V outlet.
As expected, it's not a radical departure from the current Accord, but I think it's a lot better looking, for the most part. I think the current Accord Coupe has a more aggressive front end. If I were to nitpick, I'd point out how the front of the new model highly resembles the 96-97 Accord, and the rear of the sedan is very similar to the Hyundai Genesis Sedan.

Overall, I think it looks quite good, and the engines sound appealing.

I'd probably like that car.
Cadillac NEEDS to make another flagship or supercar with a V16... Because that would be GENUINE Cadillac and extremely American.

Or hell, would be interesting/amusing to see a straight-8 from them again.

If no manual for the next M3, I will no longer respect BMW. There's a reason they're "The Ultimate Driving Machine"...

That new Accord looks pretty damn good. Way to go Honda for making a car actually better than the previous generation. They havnt done that in a while.

The new accord deserves its own thread. I think we had a thread for the new/or whatever Accord. Its a production car, and its dam nice.

Perhaps a comparison thread between the new gens of entry-level full-size sedans..

Mazda 6, Accord, Camry, etc? Anybody be interested in that?

There really isn't enough info about the car. Not even interior shots. And I don't think anyone would really be interested in a comparo of family sedans.

Ok, I understand your point of view. I also wish new supercars would differ more one from each other in terms of looks and engineering solutions.

I was talking more from sportscars than exotic supercars position.

Talking about Accord. 310Hp is quite an impressive number. It's in BMW 335i territory.

I'm not gonna say that turbo V8's are a bad thing dude. I think they are awesome. But when it comes to the most exotic of all cars, especially when that car is to be the replacement for the McLaren F1...THE McLaren F1, it should have something more exotic then a V8. Especially considering that the Mp4c127-rspecz-andchips already has a turbo V8, it should have something different.

If the Mclaren REplacement has a TT v8 making 1000HP

it just means that...:People with MP412C's will be boosting their cars power and saying "I just saved a ton of money by switching turbochargers"
