I heard only the first (and only decent for that matter) generation was shared platform, thereafter they were not shared. Not sure how reliable that info was...

Saw my first Mclaren MP4-12C!
It was orange and all and it looked exactly like a picture. Bland. Sounded great though.

^ I have on many occasions, they sound brutal too.
So much better - it can actually compete with a Range Rover off-road, unlike the current generation which is just for rich mums dropping spoilt kids off to school, they had to prove themselves with the first generation - look at our 4x4, it really works AND you can take on track in sports mode, best of both worlds! Try that now and you'll get stuck in a puddle or end up on your roof in a chicane...

That was the part that disappointed me with the new one, but the new one is way faster, better handling, better looking, and of higher quality on the inside. Realistically, you're one of the very few who would actually use a Porsche crossover/SUV for off road use. There are still just better vehicles for that, and I'd rather just have a Toureg either way.

^^^ Yes, Yes and Yes. Also the Sagaris was released to the press and public on my birthday... it's destiny you know

True there are better vehicles to go offroad specifically, if that's all I wanted then sure i'd go buy a LandRover or G-Wagen or something liek that - but are there any better all round? I mean that seriously - say I was planning a road trip across Europe, I want to visit Spa-Francochamps and Nürburgring, but then when I hit the mountains I want to take the trail routes, get to see the true countryside. Is there really a car that can do both of these such different scenarios as well as that earlier Cayenne? Bowler Wildcat does NOT count by the way, as epic as that car is, it is not a comfortable practical car to use everyday - I can vouch for that on first hand experience! The Touareg is certainly a good competitor, but I do wonder why I see so few Touaregs and more Cayennes on the street - badge snobbery? Maybe people feel the money they paid they get more for the Porsche? Is the Porsche just a slightly better car - I mean we did get a rock stuck in the brake when we took the Touareg offroad, but both trips out in the Cayenne have been faultless, is there maybe less awareness of the Touareg in terms of advertising than the Cayenne... I'm not slating one or the other, my preference is the Cayenne, and I respect yours for the Touareg

Well those scenarios of a do-everything vehicle is always under the assumption that the man with a 100,000 GBP Cayenne Turbo has no other vehicles. If one goes off road on a regular basis, why bother with the compromise?

True enough statement, although if I am doing said drive, I can only take 1 car with me to do everything - why do I keep referencing such a drive which so few people are likely to do? Because I plan to take to the roads one day and see as much as possible - although my vehicle of choice will most likely be a LandCruiser or something similarly robust and reliable, rather than sporty.
Yes, if you were to go offroad on a regular basis you would buy something suited for that purpose, but for the occasional off roader, who wants it to be good when you do go off road, there really are only a small handful of genuinely competent cars that match all the criteria... Here's a teaser photo I took today for you: ![]() And I couldn't resist picking up a brochure today either, simply because I work with it so it goes in the collection. Also, Beaver, I know I haven't been in contact for about 7 months (really sorry!), I still have that Japanese STI brochure for you if you want? Also does that Maybach brochure under the SL interest you or not? I have 2, and I only need 1 for the collection... ![]()
