Most likely the SIG P220 Compact, unless for some reason there is something hugely wrong with the ergonomics or trigger. 95% sure that is what I'm getting, would have had one by now if any place around me had one in stock and wasn't asking me to plop down a 50% non-refundable deposit sight unseen for it.

I've considered getting a concealed permit. Some of my friends have some wacky stories, always makes me wonder and such. That said, I do love me some firearms! We've got a Mossberg Tactical 500 for home.

Gun show was today. Came home empty handed. They had a variant of the gun I want, so I at least got to handle it, but the gun I wanted was not there. Was very frustrated by the end of it.

Dude the SIG only carries like 7 rounds, just get a 1911 and quit being a baby.

1911 is my favorite handgun to shoot, not interested in carrying one currently. Also a compact 1911 generally carries 6+1, just like the P220 compact. Capacity is not an issue.

Since I got to handle the gun, and liked it (though the hammer is very springy, which I don't like but isn't a deal breaker), I'll just order it online when I get the chance. Will be cheaper that way, anyhow.

In the SIG's defense, it does have a de-cocking switch, and that's a tad less nerve wracking then just trying to slowly put the hammer down on a 1911 when carring one in the tube.

Why would you try to put the hammer down on the 1911? It is designed to be carried cocked and locked. I know a lot of people piss their pants over that or whatever, but that is the gun's design and it's not any less safe than carrying hammer down unless you're a total dumbass.

Its not an everyday thing simply because it can get uncomfortable...but a good holster removes alot of paranoia

I'm getting my CC permit in a few weeks. I mainly want it to avoid any "grey area" laws, like having it in my car when I'm going to the woods to go shooting, or something that could be a rather large fine/jail if I don't have said ID.

Also I do plan on sometime in the future taking a motorcycle trek across several states. If that means camping along ye olde roadside, then having something that could "deter" thieving bastards might be a good thing to have.

The only kinds of guns you can carry everyday are the tiny pocket pistols like the Ruger LCP or Keltec P-3AT.

Those are terrible guns to shoot though and I personally wouldn't wanna trust my life on them. Without a gun I'd probably be in a quicker mindset to run/bargain my ass outa there. There is no appology in the world for pulling a gun on someone and pulling the trigger...especially if it jams. Of which I've had both of those jam on me at the range under less than holy **** panicing conditions.

For a pocket pistol in .380 I'd go with the Sig P238. It feels worlds better than the Ruger (which is a terrible gun) and the Keltec.

But there's no reason not to carry every day if you are permitted, as long as you aren't planning to travel places where carry is illegal. If you aren't going to carry everyday, then what's the point of carrying at all? Being prepared isn't about doing so on some days, and if SHTF it will not do so at your convenience.

Not trying to start an argument. If anyone feels it's not necessary for them to carry then by all means you are more than welcome. Your life is not my responsibility, nor anyone else's but yours. If you don't feel the desire to give yourself more than a fools chance at protecting it, that is well within your rights to do so and I wish you the best of luck.
