A standard GT2 is up there in my top 5 as it is.

This is going to be an epic car. Have they ever put the RS badge on a GT2 before?

Yep, there is no official GT2 RS till this one. Like Drifto said. Edo made one back in 05 but was a custom model 996 GT2 to venture at the record time in Nordschleife...

pretty badass, I hope they don't restrict it to just PDK. But remember the days when a GT2 didn't need an RS insignia to be ultimate hardcore (ahem...993 GT2)

Look at it, its fender flares are figgin riveted to the body. Yup, that's my favorite GT2

The problem about committing suicide in a GT2 is the difficulty of fitting a vacuum cleaner hose around one of the tail pipes. They're sort of integrated into the rear bumper.

What's next? A GT1? I mean, they have a GT3 for the people who want a hardcore 911, and a GT3 RS for people who don't find the regular GT3 hardcore enough.
Then there's the GT2 for that small percentage of people with deep pockets who want the most hardcore, most powerful and most expensive track monster of all.
And now there's also the GT2 RS.

Except tom... The gt2 isn't hardcore, its a mild mannered supercar..

Its about as close to a 959 as we can have today... Top speed, high hp, and stable..

The gt2rs is for people that a GT2 isn't enough...

For the people who want a more powerful gt3rs.. which granted the gt3rs is a fast car, but not fast enough if their 911 turbo and gt2 can out do it.

yes...compared to the old GT2...or compared to a Scuderia, or compared to a GT3RS..

or a Viper ACR

it is very mild mannered as it is manageable..
it's POWERFUL but in terms of 550+ HP Cars it's not some beast of burden

and i stand by my GT2-959 comparison/transition

any car made in this electronics age is mild mannered.... Traction control make all these cars mild...

only reason rich idiots crash is because they decide to shut the electronics off... which makes the cars unstable... not because they are hard core, but because they are designed with electronics in mind.

take an airplane, for example.... deactivate the computers of the b2 bomber.... and you will be unable to keep it in the air.... why well its designed to be aerodynamically unstable to make it better....

Come on, the 959 was heavier, had AWD, way less power and way less torque. On top of that this sticks to the pavement and keeps insane speeds through the turns. It's by no means mild. I can't honestly see how a Scuderia is any more "hardcore" than this RennSport version.

Also, even though it has e-aids that doesn't stop the car from having around 600 real hp. Overestimate your braking abilities and you'll be off the road at an insane speed.

A turbo version with 600hp could hardly be called mild mannered. This? This is nuts!

You're forgetting a lot of things...

A: weight
B: nannies
C: tire technology!!!!!
D: the original gt2 was more than a stones throw away from the 997 gt2 which was driven by every car magazine grandma to damn good laps.

The 997 gt2 was more of a slightly more amped 911 turbo minus the awd.. We can all agree it was in no way near as hardcore as a gt3 let alone the gt3rs..

And the 959 considering you've driven so many max, from what I've read... Is more of a GT car than any other porsche car made..

You guys are all f@gs.

Audi brings out a cheaper yet super fast car.....they suck.

Porsche comes out with a $313,000 price tag on a car that doesn't brake any records whatsoever or have a purpose and you all flip some sh*t over it.

Good lord.

I want one though.

You said that the GT2 is as mild as the 959. I didn't try to say that the 959 wasn't GT'ish but that it's the GT2 which doesn't have any similitudes and is the most "hardcore" car Porsche is producing atm. The GT3 may be as track focused and have better driving dynamics but give that car 100+hp and you'll definitely have a bigger beast (i.e. GT2).

The 996GT2 was simply not as good of a car as this is. But still, because there is a bigger beast, godzilla doesn't stop from being one.

Actually, for years there were rumors about a new GT1 which would replace the Carrera GT. It was actually supposed to be built either last year or this year, carry a 950hp engine and weight little more than a Le Mans-ready racer. Here's a quick shot I just found of it:
