Official 2008 Mercedes-Benz Vision GLK Freeside Study

[FONT=Arial]from Mercedes-Benz Press Release) Stuttgart / Detroit. GLK – a combination of letters that has specific connotations. The “G” alludes to the archetypal cross-country vehicle, the “L” intimates luxury and, as in other Mercedes model series, the “K” stands for compactness (German: Kompaktheit). At first sight these three aspects may appear to be mutually incompatible. But on closer inspection they offer the perfect combination as Mercedes-Benz takes its SUV expertise and launches it in a whole new dimension – in the exciting Vision GLK FREESIDE. In January 2008 this compact character will be making its world debut at the Detroit Auto Show, providing a vision of the shape of SUVs to come.[/FONT]

i dont really like the GLK's exterior styling, but i find the interior quite nice looking....

Looks like a Subaru/Landrover cross. In general, it's nice. I wouldn't take it off road. And I can't help but to think that white interior won't stay so nice and white.

i think it looks kinda funky and it looks like it can actually off-road but thats probably because of the ground clearance. And it has the good ol' standard Merc interior, looks similar to the C-Class's interior apart from the dash-top.

I feel the same way. There is something gone wrong with it. I like the GL but this... no.

Remember this is the "Vision" GLK, so when it comes to full production it will most likely look less radical.

More tyre sidewall would make it look better, or maybe it's the thick spoke wheels that are making the tyre look minuscule in comparison

It's very...edgy, in that there are a number of bold, aggressive lines and edges. It has quite a stance as well.

Probably one of the better looking SUVs to come out of Germany.

The only thing I like about the GLK is the speedo. Everything else is ugly and that's coming from a MB fan!

Ya, the dashboard looks nice, but other than that, its not appealling at all.
Why does Mercedes need all these SUVs for? ML, GL, G, and now this (i know this isnt a SUV, but still).

^^ It's just what people are in to these days... alot of people want SUV's and MB would try and go for the market so they'll sell more cars, meaning more money earned. It's just business.

I like how there is rust on the exhaust-thingys in these official shots.

So far I love this thing. I only hope the final production car will be just as cool as this.
