Default Mini Coupe Concept Unveiled ahead of Frankfurt Debut

A new concept from Mini. Opinions please!

Quote:
After months of rumors and speculations, MINI has finally taken the wraps off its Coupe Concept. Set to debut at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the Coupe Concept celebrates MINI’s 50th anniversary, which happens to coincide with the concept’s August 26th unveiling.

Whereas the Clubman took the MINI brand to the max, the Coupe Concept brings the focus back to personal transportation with room for only the driver and one passenger. The standard Cooper’s rear seats have been nixed in favor or a stylized slanting roof. MINI’s classic up-right windshield has also been replaced with a more coupe-appropriate raked unit. In fact, from the beltline up, the Coupe Concept is all-new.

From the beltline down, the Coupe Concept is based on the top-level John Cooper Works model. That means that performance is at the forefront – as it should be for a coupe – with the concept’s 1.6L turbocharged engine cranking out 211 horsepower. MINI engineers also added aerodynamic features and cut weight, ensuring the Coupe Concept is a solid performer is all areas.

The Coupe Concept offers 8.8 cubic feet of cargo space, with a rear pass through making the most of the limited space.

The Coupe Concept’s interior is pure MINI, featuring a large tachometer behind the steering wheel and a speedometer integrated into the center stack.

The MINI Coupe Concept will make its public debut at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Although MINI hasn’t officially announce plans for a production version of the concept, we fully expect to see a MINI coupe on the roads within the next few years.

welll I just found my next car... just paint the roof black, get the rest in red, a little more refinement to the back and i am all over this.

next car i buy will be cheap to maintain... $300/ tire crap is not cutting it anymore.

Maybe it will start to grow on me later. Until then, it's an ugly front driver.

Pass!

The roof looks bad imo. Kind of out of place. The car as a whole will grow on me, but not yet. 211hp from a 1.6L is great

I love it, no it'll be even more of a go kart with less crap to carry around. I with Coop though, keep the roof a solid color and it'll be excellent.

I just don't understand the upper half of the car at all.

Very weird looking (upper half) IMO.

BMW are officially traitors to the Mini brand. What the hell is this?! IMO, that roof is terrible and the rear end really doesn't suit a Coupe. I'd much rather see a MINI Pickup anyway.

Actually this cooper to the original cooper is like BMW X6 to X5. Dumber, more unpractical, but "stylish". The style i dont understand. Im getting old...

you people have no faith...

this is perfect car for city driving, small enough handles like a go-kart, not a gas guzzler, and and it will get up and go 211hp is plenty, hell my old mini with 116hp was enough.

The only thing that I really like about this car is the rims. I really like them. They go with the car perfect.

Looks like they chopped the top half off of a mini s and put some odd thingy on there. Get rid of the roof and and this would be a good looking convertable

The proportions of this car are just wrong...terribly wrong

I think it's the roof that's really making this car seem strange

Or really Mr. 332 Horsepower Nissan? I suppose you got your new Z for it's spacious cargo and extra fuel economy over your old Mini then?
