well, I think we can assume this is the homologation car for their Sports Exige...
info and pics from RSportCars.com, i'll look on SELOC later for more info that is "straight from the horses mouth" Lotus Sport, the performance division of Lotus Cars Ltd., has developed the Lotus Sport Exige 240R, a limited edition high performance sportscar with total global build volumes kept strictly to 50 cars. Lotus Sport will build the Lotus Sport Exige 240R within its facilities at the Group Lotus Headquarters in Hethel, Norfolk. This facility, located in the centre of the famous Hethel Test Track, has a great history of producing bespoke versions of Lotus products and can list the Lotus Sport Exige 400 bhp racecar and over 100 Elise and Exige racing cars in its portfolio. With a supercharged and intercooled high revving engine producing over 240 bhp and over 170 lb-ft of torque, the Lotus Sport Exige 240R reaches 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and 100 mph (160 km/h) in less than 10 seconds before topping out at 155 mph (250 km/h). At this top speed the advanced aerodynamics produce 250 lb of downforce increasing grip, stability and safety. The 50 versions of the Lotus Sport Exige 240R will be built as post registration official factory conversions of new Lotus Exiges. Up to 40 of these cars will be sold in the EU and the balance is intended to be predominantly sold in Japan. The suffix of 240R indicates the approximate horsepower of the engine, conservatively rounded down from the actual figure of 243 bhp (181 kW). The total unladen weight is approximately 2050 lb and the power to weight is approximately 261 bhp / tonne (195 kW / tonne). All 50 cars will be built to order and to further identify and maintain the exclusivity of the Lotus Sport Exige 240R, they will only be available in Sport Yellow or Sport Black – both unique and exclusive colours specifically blended to denote the brand colour scheme of Lotus Sport. The Lotus Sport Exige 240R also has a unique interior trim in black with Lotus Sport Yellow highlights in leather. A unique numbered Lotus Sport build plate is fitted to the aluminium chassis member on the passenger side. The interior also includes sports seats, driver and passenger four-point harnesses which are fitted to a cross bar that is part of the motorsport specification T45 roll bar. New lightweight five spoke forged alloy wheels are of a slightly wider section to the standard Exige wheel to accommodate the optional extra track only specification slick tires as well as the Yokohama A048 tires, which come as standard. These wheels are painted in “Satin Black” for the Sport Yellow painted version of the Lotus Sport Exige 240R and “High Power Silver” for the Sport Black painted version. In addition to the powerful four-cylinder engine, the Lotus Sport Exige 240R also includes specially developed Lotus Sport parts including upgraded brakes, stiffer springs and 2-way adjustable Ohlins dampers with ride height adjustment, an adjustable front anti-roll bar, twin oil coolers and an Accusump. |

where did you get 189bhp from, isnt that the standard Exige?
this has 243bhp, which is a lot more! and there are only 50 of them, and they will be coming to where I work, so I will see them, maybe even get a ride in one ![]() |

I actually sat in one of the standard exige's at the dublin car show, it was placed beside the then new DB9, yet that car was a winner for me, every possible area is light-weight, yet its a car you could probly let your granny drive(if you were seriously mad), this new version looks completely raw.
They also tested it on Top Gear racing a chinnuke helicopter, serious fun |

haha
I beat you, i have been 145mph in one on a public road, racing a ferrari ![]() it feels just amazing, I have been in the Lotus Elise 111S, the 111R and the Exige, and it feels so much more raw than the others, I loved it so much that it has become my number 1 car, and I must have it one day... this special Lotus Sport edition is going to be crazy! |

That's an awesome car. The exactly kind of car I would love to own for weekends. Even the engine looks cool.
Well, maybe is a little heavy to be the kind of car it is, and looks a little too ricer... just a little. But damn, it's an street legal racing car ![]()

Normally I'd like a car like this, but I just don't see the point of it. It's nothing better than the standard Exige except in a straight line, and the Elise, Exige, and no doubt this, aren't meant for that. Plus, doesn't it weigh more than an exige??
I dunno, I'm impartial. I like some things, like the added power (I'd prefer N/A horsepower) and the styling, but...It just doesn't meld the way the Exige does imo.

What's not to like? If Lotus only gets 50 bhp more from SC/intercooler, odds are they bridged the grand canyon around 6000 rpm in the Toyota engine's torque curve. I'll take a few extra pounds, thank you.
SubaruKid37, you are a sharp, observant, and informative poster. I will still despise you if you get to drive one of these. |

Lotus is a nice car, still I'm not too fond of the look from the front. They should do a makeover on htat.

This car must be the most fun thing on the earth.
from things i've read, a standard elise is great fun, and an exige with 240 horses must be awesome... i want one... |

it looks almost the same as the normal exige!
It should be exhibited at Geneva, although we are unsure if the car actually exists (i.e. a final model, not just a test car) yet, and how long until we get to see them at work... SteveFX, thanks for your compliments and I dont think you need to hate me just yet... the chance I will see more than one of these 50 cars is 100%, that I get to sit in it is about 40% (80% if its at Geneva, I should get access to the Lotus stand) and to go for a drive in one as a passenger, 30%, and to actually drive one is 10%... so its unlikely ![]() |

haha, lucky you. The chances of the 240R reaching down under would be mininal so the chances of me seeing one of these would be in the single digits. The chances of me being inside one would be close to zero. But being allowed to drive one would 0, but owning one would be 100% if i win the lottery (or i make it on the rich list in a very short period of time). It would be the perfect track car. From the article the 240R would have removed the torque black hole below the vvtl-i kick-in point.
I give it the thumbs up. Does anyone know the price difference between the 240R and the Exige?
