Default Ferrari F430 and Bentley Continental GT

I was at the track today and got to see both the Ferrari F430 and the Bentley Continental GT up close.

I have to say, that the 430 is a really beautiful car, inside and out. From pictures in magazines and the like, I had sort of decided that I didn't really like the looks of the 430. After seeing one in person, I changed my mind 180 degrees. It is a really beautiful car. The curves are just right. It's curvy, but not too much, and it looks very "muscular." It's just a true piece of automotive art.

I was really impressed with the interior. It is very simple, almost austere, but is very high quality, with everthing swathed in leather stitched in thread that matched the car (yellow, in this instance.)

This particular car had the competition seats, which were really nice. Made from leather and carbon fiber, they have deep side bolsters to keep the driver where he should be while cornering hard. My only complaint about the car is that there is no provision for attaching 6 point seat belts. This is odd, because the competition seats have two tunnels for the seat belts to fit into, but there is no way to affix the belts behind the seats.

The Bentley Continental was also very cool. I wouldn't describe the exterior as beautiful, but it was pretty good looking. The interior is unlike anything I've ever seen. I usually don't get excited about a car's upholstery, etc., but the Continental has a cockpit that is a wonderful combination of opulence and elegance. Burled wood, beautiful leather, and aluminum. It looked like a really great car for cruising in style. The perfect car for taking my wife to opening night at the opera. The two back seats didn't look functional for adults, so the car might as well be just a two seater.

Anyway, after seeing both of these cars up close, I was very impressed. Both have moved up several levels on my "lust list."

Sadly no. Would have been fun to try to chase down that F430. He was very fast. I watched him blow by a Gen I Viper R/T 10 (pulled him on the straight, which is impressive), and he was dicing with a Porsche GT3 for a long while. The 430's engine note is a lot deeper than the 360. Has more of a growl, less of a whine to the sound.

I wasn't driving at the track today. I spent the day rally crossing my Subaru STI in the dirt just a few miles from the track (placed 4th out of 18 in my class.)

I knew there was a track day at Pike's Peak Int'l raceway, so on the way home from the rally cross, I stopped by to say "hello" to some folks I knew would be at the track. I was hoping to see a Carrera GT that was supposed to be there, but he apparently didn't show up.
