Default Audi A5

It came up in my mind when I was thinking about the Audi 90, Where is the Audi A5?
Audi used to have something between the Audi 80 and Audi 100, now there is a space left between the A4 and A6. Also I noticed that they are missing those great coupé's that they used to have in the past. Now they just have the convertible. They have the Audi TT but it's not the real coupé variant of the sedans. You can compare it to the Z4.

So don't you think Audi should start to build an Audi A5 to compete with the BMW 3-series coupé and the Mercedes CLK.

While I was doing some research on the internet I found a website wich says that they are going to launch the Audi A5 in 2007.

www.audiforum.nl/Models/article.php?model=A5

Here is the picture of the possible Audi A5, Looks really great.

No, they dont need it. There is coming a new TT, and a production version of the Nuvolari: the Audi A6 coupé. I also dont think Audi will start producing the A5.

I think it would screw up their number system.

Audi have never played a vital role in compeating with Bmw or Merc (imo), very bland and boring but thats what theirs clients like?.Should be good to see a new coupe to change all of this!

No offense, but then you've got a very WRONG opinion. BMW, Merc and Audi are the biggest rivals from Germany. The A4 vs 3-serie vs C-class. The A6 vs 5-serie vs E-class. The A8 vs 7-serie vs S-class etc. It was, is, and always will be one big fight. Even better, most Germans choose Audi. Audi just won several prices with the A3, the A4 and the A6. In Germany that is.

At least you aren't vague. I agree with CarRocker and disagree with Mopar68 - the numbering system remains. In Europe it would give them A2 through A6 and A8; in the US it would give them A3 through A6 and A8. Works just fine. I'd prefer the coupes not get A numbers, though, since they set a precident with TT, but it isn't my call.

eh, I don't care about number really. I don't like new Audi's. They're over-designed. The older A4 and such were freiandly looking cars. All the new ones are just angry.

I don't think there is a gap between the A4 and the A6...
And this A5 looks like the Nuvolari (great), which is entering production as the A6 coupe.

I wouldn't exactly call it tiny, but it's a 2-seater anyway. This Nuvolari rip-off is looking really sweet, probably one of the best designs I've seen in the last few years.

Ok, if the Nuvolari is the futur A6 coupe, the TT is the A3 coupe, hence something is missing, isn't it ? The A4 coupe will be inexistant and missing. The price of the A6 coupe will be very high and only a few (happy) people will have the chance to buy it...

Bit of news for you: The Nuvolari is actually what will be known as the A5 and not the A6 coupe. It was told to a few car magazines a while ago, so dont worry, Audi have'nt screwed up the number system. Heres what Audi's line-up may look like in the next few years, well, this was what was told to Autocar back in November 2004:

A2: Drooped at the end of this year, mainly due to huge costs and low demand
A3: New model has just arrived based on latest Generation Golf
A4: Just had a face-lift, all new model due in 2008
A5: Nuvolari inspired coupe, based on A6 platform
A6: New model has just arrived, hybrid Aluminium-Stell construction
A7: SL-Rivaling Coupe-Convertible
A8: Aluminium A8 will continue to 2009

Q5: BMW X3 sized SUV
Q7: BMW X5 sized SUV

TT Coupe: New model arriving soon with revised Quattro AWD
TT Cabriolet: Electronic Fabric Roof for new TT
TT Fastback: Still not confirmed for production

S3/RS3
S4/RS4
S5/RS5
S6/RS6
S8/RS8
