Vanquish. It has the look and power factor going on plus its not a series car like the DB. It's a onc eina lifetime thing.

they had this comparison in Top Gear, and yes the Vanquish is much better except for the gearbox, wich wont go back if you want to, but the vanquish is also much more expensive. Even tough the Vanquish is better I would choose for the DB9.

Well, if this was normal Vanquish vs. DB9, I'd have to go with the DB9. But since this is the Vanquish S vs. DB9, I'm going with the Vanquish S. Only in black though. It's a wicked, wicked car. I think I'd probably take it over a mercedes SLR.

Hmm this is tough. I guess it depends on what i want to do with the car. If I wanted a nice Gt car, definitley the Vanquish S, I get superb comfort and awesome performance. But if I wanted more of race car, i would take the DB9 and use the money I saved by not buying the vanquish and make the the BD9 more of a DBR9.

I think this comparo is rather pointless. It's like Ferrari F430 vs 360 Modena.

The vanquish S is realy only put-to-the-test, by the Ferrari 575 . However the Aston is a gentleman's automobile, while the Ferrari is on a everlasting voyage to kick your head in!!!!
Likewise, DB9 = Bentely GT = Maserati Quattroporte |

I think I would choose the DB9 coupé, i do prefer it to the Vanquish design, with or without the Vanquish S package, although, I must add that I would take the Vanquish S over any ferrari on the market, and I do acknowledge the wonder of this car too

But the Vanquish S... dosn't that consist of top notch technology? Like 3 shifting modes and the electronic throttle and not to mention the 1200wt speakers. Price really doesn't mean much I just want to know what car is the overall best in top speed, luxury, endurance, etc.... oh and thanks alot for helping me decide

This is difficult. But, I think I'd take the DB9.
I've riden in both the DB9 Coupe and Vanquish (not S). The performance is close. Well, close enough that it isn't the deciding factor. The engine of the Vanquish S (520HP I believe) is much more potent then that of the DB9 (450HP I believe). However, the speeds and acceleration are very, very close. The DB9, however, has a much lower top end (185 instead of 200+), but, to me, the top end doesnt mean much, as I would never be going that fast anyways. The DB9 definitely looks much better, inside and outside. The interior is very sleek and stylish. It's simple layout and ergonomic perfection make it one of the nicest I've ever seen. A picture, if you don't know what I'm talking about: ![]() The interior of the Vanquish S is also nice, but not to the same extent. It's much blockier and, well, boring. Also, correct me If I'm wrong, but I believe that the Vanquish S does not have rear seats. And rear seats are quite useful. Also, the layout of the electronics in the Vanquish S is very confusing. For example, the botton to unlock the doors in located in the center, near the CD player, not on the doors. A Picture: Big Picture I believe the Vanquish S has a F1 Paddle shifting system (I believe that it's called TouchTronic 2), similar to the Cambiocorsa of the Maserati's. The DB9, however, is available with a full 6 Speed manual, or a TouchTronic shifting system.I do not know about you, but I, along with almost everyone on this forum would prefer a standard manual to a paddle shifting system, even though the paddles are 30% quicker. The shifting modes are probably the same as that of the Cambiocorsa, they are normal, sport (longer gears) , and automatic (plain old auto). Also, I believe that the Vanquish S weighs around 400lbs more than the slightly larger DB9. And then, there's the part that really made me prefer the DB9. The build quality of the DB9 is much better than that of the Vanquish S. The Vanquish S is based on a frame, and most of the components are from the standard V12 Vanquish, which came out 3-4 years ago, and is not built to the same standard and with the same technology of that of the DB9. The DB9 is much classier and is much more luxiorius than the Vanquish S. The DB9 features smooth lines and rich woods. It has a very elegan, modern style. The Vanquish S, however, does not feature any woods in the interior, just aluminum trim. Also, to my knowledge, the Vanquish S only comes in the red & black two tone interior. The DB9 is available in a plethera of beautiful colors. Also, I believe the DB9 features a match to sample interior and exterior (for an additional cost, probably in the $2000-$3000 range). Here's how I weighted the deciding factors: Performance - 20% Vanquish S > DB9 Styling - 25% DB9 > Vanquish S Interior - 20% DB9 > Vanquish S Build Quality - 20% DB9 > Vanquish S Personalisation - 15% DB9 > Vanquish S And, the DB9 is available as a Coupe or a Cabriolet! Of course, this is all just my subjective opinion. Quote:
However, I have no clue how you compare the DB9 to the Maserati Quattroporte. I can tell that you've obviously never riden in the Quattraporte. The Quattroporte has a pretty noticeable engine and has performance oriented transmission (Borrowed from the Coupe & Spyder; Gransport and Trofeo use a even more performance tuned version). The Maserati Quattraporte is ok, but Maserati could've done much better. The interior is rather...ugly, and the exterior has weird proportions and strange designs. Not to mention that the Quattroporte has a price tag in the $110,000 - $125,000 range. Yes, I know that the base MSRP is $96500, but as I'm sure many of you know, options are insanely expensive. The 19inch Sport wheels are a $3000 upgrade from the 18's, and the seat warmers (front only) are a $1000 option. When you compare it to cars like the S55 AMG and the XJR, it does pretty poorly. However, the Quattroporte is, as I said much more performance oriented than it's competitors. It's for people who absolutely must have four doors, yet still want a performance vehicle. However, the DB9 and Bentely GT are large, classy, Grand Touring coupes, who's main focus is luxury and elegance. Last edited by Kirstyn : Jan 17, 2005 at 7:30 PM. |

Wow ckg690 you have changed the way I looked at the DB9 but I believe the Vanquish S has seating room for four but I'm now looking more twards the DB9 and from what I hear is more customizable and luxurious. But it's still a close call, a very close call. Aston Martin claims the Vanquish S is the fastest AM made to date. But rrrr!!!! I wish one could be totally better then the other! Damn you Aston Martin! I think the interiors are even. Vanquish S has 3 differnt kinds of shifting modes including automatic I don't know about the db9 but I'll research it more and compare the two myself I guess

Clio? What Clio?

Niether Aston can really seat 4, the rear seats are pointless. I would rather have a DB9, the gearbox in the S is just too much a hassle and although the Vanquish-S looks better IMO, I'd rather have the DB9.

Just looked it up, the Vanquish S is available as a 2 seater or a 2+2. I thought that the rear seats were removed for the S, I was mistaken. I personally have sat in the rear of a DB9. It is very useable. However, I have also been in the rear of a standard Vanquish. Much tighter fit and much smaller.
Are you buying one of these two? You do know that the DB9 has a waitlist upwards of 12-18 months. |

I'm going with the Vanquish, it is the flagship of Aston Martin. And with the 'S' verision, it gets even better.
