Default 2008 Volkswagen Scirocco

VW's all-new coupe official

Volkswagen has given the first official hint that it is to build a 2+2
coupe which will revive the Scirocco nameplate.

(Artist's illustration of the new Scirocco)

In a media release about the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, VW USA included the following paragraph:
"VW's current technical strengths and enriched model lines are simply one wave of a torrent of new models, including a new Passat with a larger, more powerful V6, the next GTI, the Eos hardtop convertible, and, further down the line, a 2+2 sport coupe that hearkens to the heyday of the Scirocco. Look for more exciting Volkswagens at next year?s SEMA Show."
Although there have been a lot of rumours for sometime that VW is to ad a coupe model to its line-up, this is the first confirmation that the carmaker has such plans.
We expect that VW will launch the new Scirocco in 2008.
It will take its styling cues from VW's 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show stunner, the Concept R.
In production guise this 2+2 seater will also share its design with that of the new Eos coupe cabriolet and Passat.
The new coupe will share its underpinnings with that of the Jetta and it VW will offer it with three engine choices.
The entry-level model will get the company's new 1.4-litre Twincharger FSI unit and it will also be available with the GTI's 147kW 2-litre turbocharged engine.
Under the bonnet of the range-topping model will the new 3.2-litre V6 engine of the Golf R32.

That would be so awesome. My dad had the old Scirocco. It still is his favourite car he had, together with our current A4.

Looks good.
That probably the best looking coupe you will be able to get for the find of money they are talking about.

Looks like another crappy Volkswagen to me

always the same style, never really attractive

without those huge rims, it would look like an ugly piece of shitt

The previous Scirroco was a really attractive car,
this doesn't do it for me

Awesome, bringing back the good stuff. It could look a little better, since the old scirocco was very stylish. But still, its a scirocco and they are sweet. And i really like the back end on the new one, looks aggressive

Good stuff? Maybe if they stopped making them in Mexico.... VW really went downhill since then. It's not going to be the same. The people's car is not supposed to be expensive, have poor value, and a lemon.

Ford makes cars in Mexico, GM makes cars in Mexico, im pretty sure Audi makes some cars in Mexico, seeing as how VW and Audi are siblings. wait, your avatar is an Audi avatar! how dare you!?

just because VW makes their cars in Mexico doesnt mean anything, what the hell do you care anyway? its not like its an American car manufacturer either, so no one is loosing any jobs. why do you only bring up Mexico with VW's anyway?

and, are you trying to say something about Mexico? do you think quality would be worse because its made by Mexicans?

Name a car that Audi currently makes in Mexico.

And the Majority of outsourced American car manufacturing takes place in Canada.

Not only jobs.. When VW did make cars in the US, they were of a whole lot higher quality. Nowadays.. just search VW and Lemon in google, and tell me, what are some of the first few results that you get?

It is. Much like in China, things made in Mexico are of mostly low quality; it's not a great nation to make high quality stuff in.

yeah, im sure in Mexico they use a bunch of primitive tools to make our cars, we dont supply them with the right tools and knowledge neccessary to build our cars. and come on, all Mexicans are stupid and poor too? not to mention they have a different shade of skin.

I dont know who said anything about this, but.. cars being built in Mexico has a big impact. VW has taken big hits because of it.. all of the cars out of Germany are rock solid, and 90% of the ones out of Mexico are poorly built.. and boy, you hear about it. Just look at MSN reviews on Golfs.

France, obviously doesn't have the greatest quality cars either. But, countries that do have decent quality cars: America, Canada, Germany, Japan... Not France, not China, Not Mexico, Not Yugoslavia, Not Peru...

Actually, if you did as I told; you'd see a bunch of rich lawyers.

Primitive tools aren't used in China either; to make ECS motherboards, mp3 players, CD players, etc. But the ones made in China break down a whole lot more than ones made in the US, or Japan.
