My conclusion - there will not be another C6. The mule is the C7's performance model in it's absolute early stages.
Are you aware that Bob Lutz publicly said the Corvette SS is a go, and the name is also official.

Just out of curiosity, why do they/we call it a test "mule" or powertrain/drivetrain "mule" ?

What's so special or futuristic about a mule?

To me, a mule is an illegitimate offspring of an ass and an equine...hardly an appropriate label for a prototytpe of a future automobile, don't you think?

Am now. Damnit, and there I thought I was onto something.

EDIT: What was the source? Is it credible?

OH my GOD thank you.
No one can seem to understand that..

Their automotive world revolves around prices and #'s...all statstical nonsense that no one REALLY cares about once they're behind the wheel.

No one has been able to grasp that THAT alone is my gripe about the vette.

All these whiners and complainers sitting here saying I hate the car just because i'm a biased ass who knows nothing about cars etc etc etc have never taken the time to sit down and read EVERYTHING they said about the vette..

EVERYTHING was based on "hey, it's cheap and it's fast"
or "It's REALLY cheap, and faster than _____" or 1337 NURBURGING TRACK TIMES 1w00asjkhdfak

It was never, "wow this car is beautiful and it's good to see chevy giving something to the people who still try and support their place in motorsports history by buying the cars generation after generation"

A 700 bhp corvette sounds good but cars like the Carrera GT and the Enzo have 600+ bhp, the FXX 800, the CCX 800+, the 2007 Viper SRT-10 has 600 bhp, the Corvette SS is also gonna have around 600 bhp... All sportscars/supercars manufactures keep adding power on every new model so my question is: is this gonna end somewhere or can I espect a 1200 bhp Corvette by 2015?

yeah I know it may sound stupid but right now with all this horsepower rampage it seems like the sky is the only limit.

Its a 911 Turbo for 2 digit money ? Sounds great to me considering I cant afford a 911 Turbo and probably never will be able to.
This has nothing to do with a 911, so why bring it up? When the Vette has AWD, rear engine, flat six, Porsche badge ect... then you can say it's a 911 Turbo, until then it's a Chevrolet Corvette.

Honestly if people have such a hard on here for a "bargain sportscar" you are all mistaken with the Vette. Get an Atom. It's cheaper and faster. But this is off topic as well.
I'll say it again, the Vette is incredible. I can't believe there are even talks already of 700 HP. But if you buy a car based strictly on price, you aren't a true car enthusiest.

Thanks Drifster. I haven't seen you around in a while.

Yeah but dude, I think you're missing the point that this is an awesome sports that people can ACTUALLY buy. He only compared it to the 911 because that is and has been considered the ultimate in sports cars for forever. However, the 911 is well beyond nearly everyones means. Now by no means am I, or ANYONE, saying the Corvette is cheap, 80K isn't cheap by hardly anyones standards, BUT compared to the rest, it is. I'm not saying the Corvette is cool BECAUSE its cheap. I'm saying the Corvette is cool AND it's cheap.

Also, don't bring up the Atom, that's a track car that isnt road legal. It's also not a production car.

A 996 Turbo can be found second hand cheaper than a new Z06. And the Atom isn't road legal?? Better do some more homework on that one, cause it is. But let's not fight over this. Because that's all that happens anymore with the Vette.

If you can find me a used 996 Turbo cheaper then a new Z06, I'd be very surprised. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying that there has to be something wrong with that Porsche. Those things still run for 90-100 thousand.
