Ok, but who cares about Europe? j/k. Aren't most 'trucks' in europe essentially sedans with small beds?

For all intensive purposes a fwd truck is, by American standards, very....effeminate. Maybe if I were a sophisticated urbanite who'd never haul more than an ipod and a latte I wouldn't mind a fwd truck. But then again if I were such a Fraiser-like person, I probably wouldn't have the mechanical inclination to know the difference.

Well FWD is almost usless for most applications, however it does cut weight, cost, and provides more interior space. (hence its popularity on family sedans)

And yes trucks in europe are more like el caminos than anything, just cars with beds, but thats because they are a very urban country, and hauling things off road isnt fesiable.

But over there an F-350 with dualies and a turbo diesel would be usless, they dont need to haul 3 gazillion pounds of stuff and they want to stay on paved roads.

Therefor why spend all the money and gas (hella expensive over there) to buy a vehicle they cant even park in their parking spaces.

The rampage doesnt quite make sense because of the engine, if its supposed to be a small efficent FWD car-truck, why put a 5.7 hemi in it.

But agian, its just a concept, and will probably be adjusted considerably if it ever gets close to production.

This isn't a question of european trucks. If VW Rabbit sized pickups melt their butter, then hey, may the metric deities light their way.

What I am stating is that such a truck (i.e. fwd) would never sell in profitable numbers here in the USA.

You hit the hammer on the head with the nail. :P

Yes, its pointless, but you know car designers, always trying to be trendy, with gas prices and such.

But the point is however, small, FWD, Car-trucks, have their place in the market, and a somewhat large one at that.

i like the whole concept about the truck's folderable chairs and the ramp thing, the only thing is that is should be 4wd and the back door opening like the minivan, its just wierd but it does give alot more rooom to put things in the truck...

I don't keep up on what passes for a pickup in europe (just not my thing), but if for whatever reason the market over there demands it then thats where the Rampage ought to be marketed. Albeit w/o the hemi. Here it is just a joke.

fwd is an advantage while driving uphill and better handling on a slick surface when empty.

Do any of you actually use the internet for research; or do you all fail history as a matter of principle???

There was already a Dodge Rampage FWD pickup built in the '80s, based on the "sport" body Omni O24/Horizon TC3.

There was a VW FWD pickup from the same era, based on a lengthened Rabbit(Golf) platform.

These were built in significant numbers...

i still think 4wd is better, better for offroading, better traction, but more space usage and abit more expansive... i know, they should make two versions of it...
