I like how they posted a 0-50 time, and how it gets 4 more miles to the gallon than my 8 cylinder,, looks like a VW

This car wasn't built to revolutionize the market, or hell, even make an impact. Its like the Civic. Ok, Honda took the most economical, affordable, and practical package they could and threw in into a cute little car, and sold it. It was never meant to change the market, or start a cult. It was meant to be a kid's first car. Something they could wreck, and nobody would give a damn. They still are today. As you well know, ricers came abroad. Of course not all of the kids were interested in style, some were into speed, so they did what they could. There isn't much on the market today that you couldn't make faster. So they did, and thats probably how the racing team came to be. Anyway, the Neon is like a Civic, but without a good build quality. I'm sorry, but I hate everything about this car. The "buggish" eyes, rounded or "bloated" body style, cheap wheels, cheap interior, weak engine, and an ability to keep you away from the shop every other week.

PS - I'm really not trying to offend you Mopar, I didnt notice you wrote it until just now.. lol. Please dont take it the wrong way, I just dont like the Neon.

Ofcourse it's going to have a cheap interior, weaker engine, and cheap wheels when they're selling the damn car for $14k. A $14k Civic is no Bentley, my friend. However, most Civics don't sell for $14k, they go higher.
And for $14k, you're getting the 138hp 2L I4. Honda can't match that for the price.

Maybe some of the older people on SCF might remember this.

All legends are gonna die. The Ford GT will die in in 2006. And the 911 will be killed at it's own 50 years anniversary!
The SL will live forever, thanks to the Gullwing.

Yeah. But over here we will only get 500 Ford GTs. So it's a freshly made legend, like the Enzo.

I can't say I didn't try. Do you guys even read, or do you just look at the title and make assumptions based on the title?

Every dog has it's day, even if it's just one. So I'm not saying you should all praise this car. I think it deserves a little respect. Nothing more, nothing less.

I didn't say you did anything. What's not to get? I've stated it over and over again. The Neon was a American economy car styling breakthrough, and it did have a reputation on the track (even if it was short lived). I'm not saying it's a great car. I'm saying it deserves just an ounce of respect.

I'm not saying those things as a general statement, I'm saying them comparatively. Im not comparing it to exotics or anything like that.. you could atleast give me that much credit. If I was saying it as a general statement, it would've been much worse. Yes, Honda can match that price. I was surprised too when I found some of the prices on 2002 and above models. They're only like.. 10k I believe. 2004 Models range from $12,900 - $19,750.

ill admit, it was a styling... well, i wouldnt say breakthrough, but it was atleast made an impact. other than the styling, i see dont see how it was any better than a Focus, Cavalier, Corolla, Civic or anything else.

but good thread mopar. i appreciate people who accually think and form their own opinions. not like people who base their opinions on other's.

I based my opinion on owning 2 of them and they suck. If you don't care about cars and make less than minimum wage, then yes the Neon is an incredibly good car. Performance aside, just because a car sells for around $14,000 doesn't mean it has to be ugly! You can make a car that looks good and sell it cheap, but they didn't and that's why they are getting rid of it!
