Long Island, N.Y. (March 13, 2008) - The GTR Roadster by Iconic Motors was unveiled at the duPont REGISTRY Live! this past weekend at the Amelia Island Concours d' Elegance. A truly groundbreaking automobile, the Iconic GTR boasts 18 pending U.S. patent applications, a chassis made of high strength chromoly, a carbon fiber passenger tub and carbon fiber body panels, and a high performance air management system with under body inverted carbon fiber wings designed to generate more than 500 pounds of downforce at 175 miles per hour. The Iconic GTR's 1950s inspired body design features many panels constructed of a poly silicate matrix sandwiched between two layers of carbon fiber that results in an incredibly strong light weight and rigid body. With its carbon fiber and aluminum honeycomb reinforced chassis having over 20,000 pounds of torsional rigidity, the GTR offers a level of performance handling that rivals that found in many modern race cars. "I have wanted to build a car that combines the latest innovative technologies with the most exquisite detailing, design and all out performance since the day I began reading car magazines as a kid," said Claudio Ballard, the inventor and visionary behind the GTR Roadster. "Everything from the custom-built, heated and cooled carbon fiber seats to the computerized gas cap that slides open like the glass on a moon roof embodies my vision." From its luxurious leather and suede hand-stitched interior to its hand-assembled 420-cid/800-horsepower naturally aspirated V-8 engine, the vehicle is a rolling showcase for revolutionary technology shrouded in a racecar. The entire nose clip swings up and forward to reveal the highly detailed engine compartment, showcasing a custom-fabricated engine built to super car racing standards featuring titanium valves, high strength light weight stainless and aluminum components throughout along with the very latest in high performance friction reduction technology. The patent pending shifter mechanism is specifically designed to display its inner workings as a beautiful piece of automotive artwork, and even the gauges, dashboard starter and hazard light push button switches are custom designed from stainless steel and manmade synthetic sapphire with a hardness level just below that of diamond. The dash center console has a 8-inch touch screen display utilizing the same bright-view technology found in military strike fighters and bombers for clear visibility regardless of sunlight exposure in support of its onboard GPS navigation and driver information displays. The Iconic GTR - proudly designed, engineered and constructed using state-of-the-art computer-aided design and manufacturing technology entirely in the United States with over 99% U.S. sourced materials. Story by Iconic More photos here My Opinion A new super Cobra? Seems so! 800hp in a car this small with such an advanced chassis is a winner. It's got lots of nice modern features such as side and center mirrors integrated into the windscreen, brake lights on the rollover bars...

^^seems like a loser to me..
800HP on a modern chassis that's still a road car isn't going to be anything more than a show piece.. the only way 800HP will work is in a car like the ultima GT-R etc.. a race style car. this car will just be a show queen/highway thing

So what is the difference between this and a racecar?
Is it the CF monocoque, the transversely mounted suspension, the brakes that don't fit in the wheels, the functional front lip, flat underbody, venturi tunnel, bucket seats, the big amount of rubber front and back...? The only difference is that this still has a full interior and other goodies, which only adds weight, which aids with traction. That and maybe wheel angles is what differences this from a racing counterpart.

there's only so much a open cabbed car that is not designed to be the most aerodynamically sound car can take.
and me thinks 800HP is above that limit.. ALONG with the fact it's Front mounted RWD.. a 800HP GT-R has some traction issues, with larger rear tires, and an overall better design.. you think this mix will work? i doubt it. Like i said, i think it'd be FAST, but i don't think it'd be remarkably fast (in relation to power) anywhere but a straight line

Looks like a Morgan to me but Drifters right 800bhp is too much for a car like this.
EDIT: I just found this old thread on it http://sportscarforums.com/f8/iconic...ter-25314.html

Sounds good from the specs but it looks to much like a Shelby cobra thats trying to have a touch of spyker in it. The interior reminds me of a spyker. sounds all decent but when it comes down to it it probably has traction issues.

It's kinda ugly but the int. and specs look good but still if I had the money I wouldn't get it I would save some more and get a Cobra.

I think it looks like a Cobra and a BMW Z3 spawned and I love it. It looks stunning. However, like Ty said, 800 hp is a bit overkill. This car would be perfect with a LS7.
But what's the deal with the two parking brakes? Is the one on the passenger side a dummy? And I have to say that I don't like the center stack of the dashboard -- what does a car like this need a screen like that for? And I would e-murder someone for that steering wheel. It has to be among the best steering wheels I have ever seen. It's a beauty.

Its lovely in every way, taking classic ceus from the old cobra with new features and looks gives this car a special look . A bit expensive though..
