Default Why the Goodwood Festival of Speed should be compulsary

So I flew up to England this weekend to go and see the Goodwood Festival of Speed with my uncle. Now let me tell you, it was fantastic. Screw Top Marques and what not, this was just a level above.

It was really well organized, and there was everything there a car enthusiast could ask for. Cars varied from 1930s F1 to modern Touring Cars, there was Le Mans racers, supercars... everything, even some Whacky Racers lol.

Plus all the manufacturers bring all their new models there too, along with some of their attractions (see pictures).

It's so great because you get F1 racing, Historical racing, a car-show... all in one.

Here are my best pictures, I shall post another load if there's interest.

First thing I see coming through the entrance gates (the cars are in fact lining up behind the start line, waiting to race up the hill).

On the hill, doing about 120 mph

Range Rover 4x4 Park (they take you for rides)

... but we went for the more fun option:

Porsche had 4 Cayenne S', 4 professional drivers, and an empty, muddy field. Naturally, we booked our go and so off we went four-wheel drifting through this field. It was great, just great. At last seeing what a Cayenne could do.
I took a video from inside, but I was a bit distracted, it was the first time I'd been in car that was being pushed to it's limits (he was really driving the sh*t out of it). Doing 60mph and suddenly he whacks the wheel and we start sliding from side to side was an amazing feeling.

Here are some more shots of the action:

(I wasn't kidding when I said he was pushing hard)

Bowler also had a great setup. They were taking passenger on 20£(!) ride through a specially designed off road track. The faces of these people when they got back was priceless.

Old F1 Ferrari

New v Old (they just happened to be parked next to each other...)

Absolutely nothing holding it. Good handbrake? I think so.

Perfect moment

At the McLaren stand (no that's not me sitting)

The car Senna raced in

Lewis !

Especially for the event, Land Rover had this incredible sculpture built. It was huge, and very neatly thought. I think the picture are fun, you can rotate them all you like, it still looks weird.

Underneath them

Collection of old Bond cars

Up on the rally stage, Atkinson getting ready to set off

SLR race car. What a NOISE

Honda CR-X concept. Stunning.

A picture i really like

Toyota Girls hey hey

Jag XKR-S

Greeted on Sunday morning by the modern WRC cars, turning around in pure style

Video (must watch, just makes you smile, especially the Toyota): http://s336.photobucket.com/albums/n...t=MOV01623.flv

Yes, she was there too

Recognize this truck anyone?

Needless to add, an unforgettable weekend. Will definitely be going back next year.

ugh, don't remind me of Goodwood, its the FIRST year i've not been able to go

Although seeing your pics reminds me that its pretty much the same every year!!

The old Merc race car in the first 2 pics currently lives in Woking so its really close for it to travel to be at Goodwood (and the SLR 722 GT race car)

Nice you enjoyed it
Maybe I will see you there next year
Definately not missing it for 2 years in a row

good pics, nice to see what i missed

Thanks everyone.

I'd really recommend you going if you have the possibility. If you already live in England just hop on the train and go for it, trust me, you won't regret it!

I'll post the other pictures when we get to the second page of the thread so to not clog up peoples' computers.

NICE Toyota girls! (damn that doesn't sound very sexy. lol) But that first picture pwns everything though. Is that a TS010 on the left? Srsly? Did you notice the driver's names on that thing?

I'm not sure if that's a TS010, it looked newer than that. It was a Toyota though.

You'd have been in heaven mate, there were tens of Le Mans cars, even the Bentley Speed 8 was there doing burnouts... And when I was in the paddock they fired it up right in front of me (along with a 350Z, Panoz, DBR9 and SLR 722!)

I'm sure there's a list of all the entrants somewhere on their website if you're really interested .
