Default small enhancements with Mazda...

I have a question. I owe a 130 hp Mazda Mx-3 and I want to add some additional 30 hp which would be nice enough for me. I was wondering if such not too small not too big tuning would require changing for example transmission or clutch?
Or with such a small power addition I don't have to change anything?

you probaly wouldn't have to change anything. It would be safer to change the clutch or beef up other components, but it's not really required in this case.

As mopar already confirmed, it is probably not needed. Most car manufacturers these days have some kind of margin to play with for every single component in their cars. That means you can safely add some horsepower, in this case 30 hp, without having to worry about replacing other stuff for safety-reliability-driveability.

Since you are probably not going to do the tuning yourself, I would also ask at least 1 or more local MX-3 experts just to be sure. Maybe they can tell you even how much more hp you still can add without other additional mods after you have got used to 160hp :?

Extra hp becomes addictive, so be warned and make sure your wallet is in a safe area

A difference of ~30HP usually doesn't command the changing of transmission/suspensions etc...
I would search for a little bigger brakes, however.

yeah i know it may be addictive but this car was satisfying my sports ambitions for over a year so if i just tune it up a little, it will last for another year i guess
Anyway i guess 30 hp is like 23% of current hp so i should gain about one second on 0-60...
I think brakes need some upgrade cause they are pretty weak in this model in standard, I wonder if brakes from mx-6 would fit...
Anyway thanks for the help guys

btw how do you think I can gain this 30 hp increase (25%)? It shouldn't be too expensive and this mod shouldn't inlclude too many additional mods. I mean I was thinking about ECU and intake. Modding ECU though wouldn't give me too much hp I guess not more then 10, plus some cold air intake additional 5-10 hp if everything is measured and installed right. Or should I play with pistons, engine block etc?
