Talking My Project!

Just recently me and a couple of my mates have decided to start a project car, what we are planning to do is build a classic car that was used in rallies (hopefully a Mk.II Escort so i can make it look like my avatar) and basically build it up from an old chassis that we will fix up and modify so we can use it to race on track days and maybe use it as a road car on a good day.

The reason im posting this is because im wondering if anyone has any experience on this and i would really appreciate some advice on this kind of stuff and recommendations would be great from the resident experts on SCF. (omg this is the only time i've been serious on this forum )

EDIT: oh yeah my mates are fairly experienced, one of them has been working in a Mercedes Garage for 7 years and my other mate is a trainee mechanical engineer and has been for the past 3 years and i have been working on cars for a few years so alot of stuff can be done by us.

UPDATE: PAINT JOB COMPETITION:- Me and my mates have agreed to put up a competition on this forum to get a paint job its a mini we're building so who ever can design the coolest paint job wins and it will be put on our car

Ford Escort Mk.II
Peugeot 205 GTi
Austin/Rover Metro 6R4
Mini Cooper
Audi Quattro
70's Mitsubishi Colt Galant GTO MR (unlikely )
70's Toyota Celica

Oh wow, if your friends are mad experienced, this should be a no brainer for you guys.

BTW thats a lot of choices, will you be finding the actual thing and fixing it up or just building it from scratch on another set of chassis...

we need to decide what we are gonna build then get a chassis for that car, fix it up then strengthen it and build a shell on top, its gonna be like a kit car but we're planning to get genuine parts

My paps and m8s have all built and rallied mk2s and mini coopers - if you should choose either of them and there’s anything particular you'd like to know drop me a msg.

Sounds like fun Hyphon! That would be a real blast making a rally car then getting to race it. Oh well I wish you luck, but keep us updated.
