gull-wing doors, from what i know it was the mercedes 300 SL first, cause the doors "looked" like a seagull's wings
you can see it on various marques: Lamborghini, mclaren, ferrari, Koenigsegg, even that DeLorean 5h1t in the '80 in fact (i dont know if if you noticed it) thei'r VERY different: the lambo's have one type of doors(diablo, murc, countach) the mcLaren F1,ferrari enzo/fxx, and couple of others- another type the 300SL,isdera commendatore,GMC DeLorean r another type and yet another one is on the koenigsegg they'r all named "gull-wing" doors(correct me if im wrong) and SOMETIMES "lambo-doors", and thats a bit confusing they can make the cars , couldnt they make different names for the bloody doors ![]() |

ok firstly the lambo doors are scissor doors not gull wings, they go straight and are connected in the same place as a usual door is except they go up rather than out, gull wing doors are attached to the roof or the roof and the side of the car and go diagonally outwards hence making them look like gull wings. the koenigsegg das double helix doors some proper weird thing when the door goes out and forwards looks weird but cool. so yeh
Lambos - scissor doors mclaren enzo etc etc - gull wing koenigsegg - double helix

what u r saying makes sense, except for the gullwing doors
first u must agree that 300sl and enzo have different type of doors so which r the gullwing doors? both? how about a sea-gull, how does it have its wings like? |

Yeah i have noticed a bit of confusion about the door names as well, i mean now everyone is not too sure what all doors are called and if they are the same. I know gull wing doors are doors which orignated from the Merc SL style and that Lambo doors are Lambo doors, but the one thing iam not sure of is whether Lambo style doors are 'suicide doors' or the RX8 doors are- which open out.

the rx8 doors are a combination of the suicide doors and regular doors, but i think the enzo is a combination of gull wing and lambo doors, it doesnt exactly go straight up like a lambo, but it doesnt go straight up from the roof either...so is it like half half?

Thanks subaru. Yea, cars like the McLaren F1, Enzo, SLR McLaren, Saleen S7, would be considered gullwing doors. Lamborghini's have scissor doors (or just called lambo doors sometimes), and the RX-8 has suicide doors.
