Looks like the Detroit Show is tomorrow and there's a lot going on. There's already plenty of news from the show and lots of breaking news can be found here starting tomorrow:

Two questions:
1) So are we getting the Fiat 500 in Americaland, or is that there just to piss us off? 2) Does that dude have a ****ing shark head on in that ugly ass Mini thing?

Abarth 500 looks better in white, somehow dark blue or whatever that is doesn't suit it.
New Z4 is properly good now, improved suspension and engine and that front bumper resembles the old Z4 M.

Here's what interests me:
-- Focus world platform. -- Buick Regal GS "concept". -- Fiat 500. -- The chick in the Mini thing. And that 740i is looking really damned good. I'm glad to see BMW's flagship looking good again. Bangle blew.

I really love the new direction these car companies are going now, bringing in their eurpoean models instead of spending pintless money to desing thousand cars on a same platfrom.
But on another note they should be smart with what they bring, for example that lancia Delta that in my eyes is a fail for the american market. |

Knowing this 740 has been in development for quite a bit and Bangle has been gone only for a year or two, this car probably had some of his touches.

Those seats in the 'yota thing look ridiculously uncomfortable, or is that just me?
Anyways I like the look of that new Mini Coupe, wish I had the money to get me one of them. |

I'm massively offended at that Lancia.
That thing will not sell one copy. Heinous. The Mini Beach thingy is for teh lolz. It's interesting to see that a lot of the automakers are releasing or have concepts for smaller cars and more fuel efficient cars (I don't care about the latter). I'm semi-almost-maybe interested in the Fiat Abarth 500. I thought, "why post the 740i" then I remembered the only models available were the 750i/L and the 760i/L.

Well, sure it has some of his touches. And Bangle did blow, hard. But his designs are sexy as hell when they are toned down a bit. i.e. When the bean counters say enough is enough.

VTEC_Dreams likes-->
The GMC--it's cool looking to say the least. Unfortunately it's still going to be powered by an ecoturd engine, but it does look uber neato. Thumbs up for the styling dept. The Focus (already panned it in another thread) The two Mini cars--If Mini would figure out a good ride/handling compromise and use proper BMW engines I'd probably love them, but as is they ride way, way too rough. The CR-Z (obviously) The Fiat/Lancia--the 500 is a very cool little car. In the world of cutesy retro cars (it and the Mini), it's a winner. I was cold at it at first but it's grown on me. I actually think that Lancia is cool as sh*t to begin with, and I dig the way it looks with a Chrysler badge on it. Doesn't like--> Everything else. Too big, too over the top, too GM'y...the usual gripes from me.

My opinions on the cars:
BMW 7 - I like this one. Its back to being a real luxury sedan. Its very nice. I like that they got back to the flat grill rather than the smooth one one the E60, for example. BMW Z4 - Meh. Its a BMW Z, its destined to look awesome and it does. Always has. Chevy Aveo RS - Very nice. If that car goes to production just like that, it will sell very well. This is the kind of thinking that Chevy needs to incorporate into all their new designs. Sleek and able to appeal to everybody. I would buy this if I was looking the market for a car. Mini Cooper Coupe - The 'vert form of this looks quite nice. Loads better than the vert of the regular mini for sure. The hardtop - not so much. It actually looks quite ridiculous. Mini Beachcomber - LOL. Its gay, but nice try mini. Stay away from Wrangler territory. Honda CR-Z, Buick Regal, and Audi E - we already have threads about these, so I'm not going to repeat myself. BMW E Concept and Audi A8 Hybrid concept - Meh. Yahn. Not interested. They will be overpriced and pointless to the eigth degree. Mercedes Benz metal thingy - Can someone explain this to me? I really dont get what it trying to be any why people are so interested... MB E 'Vert - I believe stunning would be a good word for this. Yes. Buy me one. GMC Granite - No. Not the way GMC needs to be going. See Aveo RS for directions please. 599XX - Why put that in the chrystler stand. It just makes everything they have there look more pathetic. Toyota ABC# A# ##/AB - You have the prius. You dont need anything else that is ugly in the lineup. The prius does that just fine. Bring on the RWD Ft-86 Supra thingy. VW Coupe - very nice. However, I want to see the Bluesport hit production before this. Ford Focus - see thread. Chystler Lancia Delta - This will not sell well in the US. It won't. Chrystler is going down the tubes, I'm telling you... Fiat Abarth - this better be some foreshadowing to how that piece of awesome is going to make it over the Atlantic. I think I am too critical...
