Default SCF Ideas/Changes

The mods have clearly stated there are going to be some changes, i'm thinking in tightening up on patroling the forum, nothing big.

Lots of people are making suggestions, Close the rate threads, consolidate them, keep the off topic forums, close them.

This is a thread to get all those ideas out, or say the system is perfect the way it is.

On a new note, i think that a competition section would be nice, under car and multimedia. This is where PS Comps, POTM, COTM, and everything else good be. Car and Multimedia would then be where all jokes (hence the multimedia part), car videos, and etc. could be.

We could then get rid of the Jokes section, and the pointless section, and make one section that didn't had to post counts called the member area, where new people could introduce themselves, people could get to know members better, and etc.

the last part sounds great n wright. i'd love to see a competition section, although for the 'rate the blah blah' threads I think they should all go into one thread, because after all many people enjoy posting there.

anyways, this 'change' that the mods are going to bring is good for me but not for all, if it requires the pointless or jokes section to be closed then there may be a few unhappy members..

but anyway on the whole this change sounds good, some better quality to this forum I hope.

change the pointless title. if it has no point and thus no purpose there's no reason for it.

The last part sounds good, "members area", that would help maybe getting along with each other. And getting to know people better.

i think it is good the way it is. if the off topic threads were all taken away and it was strictly a car only forum it would take the fun away from it. i love the forums and i love cars but i also love coming and reading other things too.

The Competition area section sounds great, that way the CM&G section will be less cluttered up and that way you can find all your particular comps in that section.

Also for the jokes section going in to the CM&G section is a good idea too, again, that should make the forum less cluttered up and should replace all the comps such as POTM which is being to be put in the competition section.

I also dig the Members area, that's a great way to know the members more.

As for the pointless section being deleted, thats a great idea. That way SCF will be more car orientated like it should be. I'm looking forward to these changes...

i agree with a competition area, so that a competition can be found quicker and at-least be seen. Also, it might need a voting section to where the voting threads go, instead of them going into the comparisons section.

I believe moderators should be a tad stricter on some members, the one line pointless thread starters, and posts seem to just clog up the site.

If the forum wants to become greater why don't we start with information. In threads I've seen lately it's just people asking something about a car, in one line with no information what so ever about it. So if a guy makes a thread: what do you think, of a Lamborghini Gallardo? and posts no specifications or pictures. How are members who would like to discuss and compare cars to other cars meant to comment to that?
Are we all meant to write on about the cars name: "oh its so long, to hard to spell" come on, thread starters put SOME effort into what you are doing.

That would be a start anyway.

Edit: as for the members section, it could be easier to find new members. and make them aware quicker of the rules.

Just to state that i have tried to get a Competion section before, but no one cared back then.
Plus Rollin seemed like he could not be bothered.
Hopefully know he will notice it is needed due to all the clutter there

The place for competitions (involving images, videos and this stuff) is the Car Multimedia & Games forum.

We won't get rid of the Jokes & Humor forum, but we do consider making a change to the Pointless & Test Threads . I can't explain the exact nature of the changes, because they haven't vet been discussed in detail among us mods.

New member introductions and other, serious non-automotive topics can be posted in the Miscellaneous forum. I don't *think* (although it's open to discussion) we need a separate area just for members. in addition, we already have a similar forum: Plus.

As one member pointed out, I have made some changes to the styles recently. No more changes are planned, but might happen. It's just one of those things were it depends on what mood I'm in or how much time I have.

I dig SCF's looks, they're simple, clean, and stylish. But not to the point where it ever looks old or out of date.

An additional sub-section in the Car & Multimedia is sort of redundant since car photoshopping is car multimedia. It's a nice thought, though.

Rollin, you kinda misquoted n wright in that first bit. He said a competition section under Car Multimedia & Games. So a subforum.
I think thats a pretty good idea actually. Keeps that section a little more organised.

A subforum is just another forum. It's no different.

The problem is that SCF could be separated down to many many forums, which would confuse new members and first-time visitors. Some of them already have a hard time finding the right forum. That's why I would like to keep the number of forums down to a minimum.
