Default Problems with logging in/out?

If you have problems with logging in or out of the forum, try this:

Step 1: Delete all cookies from sportscarforums.com AND www.sportscarforums.com.

If you use Internet Explorer you can do this by going to Tools > Internet Options > General and clicking on the Delete Cookies button. This will delete all your cookies. Alternatively, if you know where the cookies are stored on your system (usually in the folder Documents and Settings/User_Name/Cookies - replace "User_Name" with your user name in Windows), then go there and delete cookies from SCF only.

If you use Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies > View Cookies and remove all cookies from sportscarforums.com AND www.sportscarforums.com.

Step 2: Check your Privacy settings. Make sure that it can handle cookies from this website.

Step 3: Restart your browser and login again.

If this doesn't solve your problem, then the cause might be: browser settings, ISP and/or cache issues, firewalls, ad-blockers, and any other application that affects Internet content.

Same thing. I will blame this on FireFox. The cookies from sportscarforums.com are logged, but the www.sportscarforums.com aren't. I don't know if this is supposed to happen, depending on the coding of the site but I am sure it is not normal for these login problems to occur. It's alright though. I just need to check "Remember Me" when logging in. If other users are experiencing this, should be a problem on the server's/website's end.

The forum settings have been changed yesterday; if a member logs in at scf.com or www.scf.com, the login will now work for both. For this new setting to make effect, you first need to delete your cookies, then login again.

Try again today to see if the new setting solves your problem. However, since you also seem to have other issues with your browser, I doubt it.

Not likely, since most members don't have any problems at all. In most cases, it's a matter of browser settings on member's comp.

For Opera 6.0, go to Files on the tool bar. Click on Delete Private Data. Then select what cookies you want to delete. Usually, a cookie has a name that is the same as or similar to that of the web site that provided them.

I have been having a problem with my username recently. I have auto log in but it doesnt always work and the times it doesnt my username is invalid. Why is this, and how can I prevent it? It says something about the server occasionally as well.

There are countless things that could cause this. Have you tried to delete cookies?

no I have not deleted the cookies, I will try this. Occasionally when I try to load up sportscarforums.com the homepage wont load up and say the server can not be found-from memory (next time it happens I write it down).

Have you cleared cookies as well? Temporary internet files usually mean images, web pages, javascript, etc. Cookies are a different thing.

Rollin, I chose to not delete cookies. I still have a problem intermittently.

Hi Rollin, sorry to bug you with what is probably nothing much but ever since the server moved, when I log in the forum doesn't show me as logged in ie. I can't access the plus forum and I can't access my PM's or user CP.

The funny thing though is that once I open a random thread or forum all of it is suddenly there again.

for the record, I'm pretty sure there are no cookies or temp internet files storedon this PC since it uses a network drive which is restored after I log off and therefor is clean again once I log on the next day so it's not as if any temporary information is stored from a previous attempt.

Basically it's just a minor inconvenience and I can live with it, was just curious to see if you might now what causes this.

This looks like a cache issue with your browser. Have you tried to refresh the index page after you login (as I understand, only the main forum page doesn't show you as logged in)? You could also try to login to SCF, then close and reopen the browser. See if it still doesn't work.

yep, those seem to solve the problem.

it's really odd because as I explained the complete contents of the HDD (network HDD on local server) are erased and copied back on there again from an ISO file every day and the ISO file hasn't changed in at least 10 months. Issue wasn't there before.

Anyways, it's not something that really bothers me after I recovered from the initial shock

EDIT:: oh, I don't see the use in erasing and copying those files every single day but some system administrator thought it'd be fun so now I have to live with it...

EDIT::

Interestingly enough this time when I tried logging in after lunch I got a message telling me that I entered an incorrect username and password but when I asked to give me the form that allows me to enter my e-mail adress I saw I was logged in with username and password anyways.

EDIT once more:: the above thing seemed to be a one off.

EDIT::

after logging in using 3 different PC's and 3 different ISP's as well as 3 different browsers the issue is still there.
After logging in I can't access my user CP, IM's and don't see my username untill I first refresh.

I am having the same problems again.

I can log in again but I am unable to view the plus forums and my private messages. The welcome to SCF membership advertising is displayed before the forums.

I have clicked the remember me icon and still get the same thing. At least I can post in the topics this times.

Any suggestions, I have already deleted cookies this only started happening after my mum deleted all internet history.

Cheers,
