lol, the Earth is doing weird things... Whilst you guys were having your coldest November since 1982, we were having our warmest spring since 1950.

Well, maybe, but but nobody is old enough to prove me wrong. And if the world is +3,000,000,000 years old, why would this be year 2006?
I know we use Jesus as an excuse for that.... but Jesus simply can't have existed.

well if its 2006, the earth is 2006 years old, not 171..

but what happened when the earth was created? we still had to wait awhile to live on the earth after those dinosaurs and stuff

Earth was created by a big bang that was so lound that it resulted in a 7926 miles diameter ball... That sounds like a theory that only high war veterans would believe in though.
God didn't create it either. Anybody with any common sense wouldn't make something that was meant to travel 67005 mph circular.

We wouldn't have to "wait" for the dinosaurs to evolve into other species, because they were wiped out by an asteroid way before that...

well, i dont believe that "god" created the earth, i did know that the big bang theory made the whole universe or something to expand...didnt know that it made a 7926 mils dia. ball

but nvm, lets get back on topic on that global warming thing

Here are some articles that our good friend Spitfire sent me. Read them through to the end, very carefully!

My history teacher was talking about how he can prove that God exists. One of the things he said was if you find a watch, how do you know that wasn't creted by a 'big bang'? It has to be made by a watch maker because it is so complitated. When you look at the earth, it too is complicated so how could it be created by a 'big bang'?

It was something like that, not sure if it's the right story.

I agree too, and I've been espousing this for awhile.

The point is that we really don't know that much about what is going on, but that doesn't stop people from turning this into a political issue. There is no question that the earth has heated up over the last hundred or so years but the real question is why? Is it natural or from human contribution? Most of the studies that predict global warming are done off of computer models that have accuracy of +/-1000% for the answers! The famous Mann "hockey stick" study was proven false because Mann made up data for the periods in the earth's history he didn't know. We already know that doubling the human contribution to atmospheric carbon dioxide will cause somewhat less than 0.1 °C additional warming. This annual warming is almost 20 times the total temperature increase possible from doubling the pre-Industrial Revolution level of atmospheric carbon dioxide and yet there is no sign of "runaway" water vapor-driven warming. It's been estimated that the sun contributed as much as 45–50% of the 1900–2000 global warming. When Mt. Vesuvius blew, it released 10 times more carbon dioxide than all the cars on Earth combined.

That doesn't prove that God exists. You have to remember, that while the Universe is very complicated indeed, so are the laws are physics. The big bang is a theory that states that all the matter and energy was once together, and eventually exploded to create space. Within space, there are physics that dictate what effects matter and energy will have on each other. Gravity causes matter to come together, which would have formed the spherical shape of the earth, and when different particles join together new substances are created, which is how so many different materials can be found. Living things are created out of particles too. The big bang didn't just make the Universe the way it is today, it took BILLIONS of years for things to become what they are today.

Global warming is affecting the World.....it was 70 degrees on the first day of december here in NEW YORK.....you tell me that isnt global warming and ill show you a liar....its so obvious that the world is heating up from the greenhouse effect.....hotter ocean temperatures brought us one of the largest hurricanes we have ever seen to hit shore.

BTW, worry more about yellowstone then global warming....if yellowstone errupts most of us will die

Yeah, but all living things come from some sort of parent. Everything does. The chances of the proteins and the amino acids coming together to create life of anything is 1/5(fifth thousand zeros).

It's basically impossible for the proteins and amino acids just coming together and creating life.

Also, when you said about matter coming together through gravity, there's no gravity in space, so wouldn't all the matter just be dispersed throughout the universe?

You're correct about when particles come toegther new substances are created, but very very very rarely are those substances life.

Before about a week ago I was convinced that all life was formed by the Big Bang and Earth just taking its toll on matter and life, but by reading Mark's articles, I'm not so sure.

I'm not going to argue that there is a god or that there isn't a god, nor am I going to tell people what I believe.

Remember this however, the world seems complicated to you because you're looking at a huge picture of the world. Everything you see really boils down to the the interactions on the molecular level, which are actually quite simple.

The point is that you can take a simple process and when you repeat and magnify to a huge scale it can seem utterly complex. Just look at fractals if you need more proof.

Ever heard of the urban heat effect? Didn't think so.
