Default Anyone play Lacrosse?

As in the subject, answer the question. If you dont know, Lacrosse is a sport invented by Native Americans. Each player has a stick with a mesh pocket in it (at whats called the head of the stick) and tries to score on the opposing team's goal. Its kind of a mixture of soccer and hockey, hard to explain. Its a relatively small but fast growing sport. Big around Baltimore. In any event I've been playing on a club team for 4 years and my high school is finally getting a team now that the budget has passed! yay... A picture for those of you who are still a little confused

i'd like to try it if it was at my school.. sounds real fun... one really preppy school around my area (bellarmine college prep.. been around for more than 150 years....) plays it.. but i haven't seen any other schools play

speedmuse: isn't it kinda hard to play still? i mean.. when i watched a short clip of it, i couldn't see where the little golfball thing was doesn't it hurt when u get hit by it too? sounds like you need the quickness of a ping pong player and the speed of a sprinter..

i thought of doing wrestling, but when i finally weighed myself on the scale and it said 150.. i'm all "HELL NO.... I'M NOT WRESTLING A GUY THAT BIG".. btw.. i'm real skinny..especially when compared to all those guys in 150 league and at the same time i was considering badminton.. but when i saw that number on the scale i'm all "how the hell can a guy that's 150 jump around soo fast.... " i have no idea what to do now.. so i am on the debate team (insert laughter and humiliation from everyone in SCF here.. ops: ops: "OMG WHAT A NERD!!!" ) sry for the rants tho.. ops:

I've never played it, I've never heard about it. :?

PS: igaboj, you're not a nerd, nerds are those who call you nerd (those also happen to have an IQ of below 60). Be proud of what you do and what you are.

and for anyone considering doing debate, i highly suggest parlimentary debate.. comes in handy when insulting another person if anyone wants to try debate (i bet not very many.. ) just PM me

Hardest part is learning to catch the ball. Basically need good hand-eye coordination. The ball is rubber and about the size of a baseball, no it's not all that hard to see (at dusk is another story tho). As with any sport practice makes perfect. As for getting hit with the balls yes that hurts very much, especially when u take a shot in the upper and inner thigh (thank god for jock straps). But that rarely happens. The only person who really needs to worry about getting hit is the goalie. College players can fire crazy 80+mph shots and most goalies only wear chest pads, gloves, cup, and have a stick. Goalies get amazing with their stick skills and there's lots of ways to read where someone's going to shoot, ie: follow the players stick, if its low the shot will probably be low. Me, I'm on the other side of the ball and play offence or "attack." There's stuff u can do to counter the goalie, like keep your stick behind your helmet b4 a shot so the goalie cant see it. And as for having all the speed in the world, I wish that was true. Most of the kids who play on my team are like me. They got tired of baseball or soccer or whatever and looked for a new sport. Lacrosse was it for me. There, I think thats a pretty good rant if u will about the sport. Any further questions feel free to ask, I dont mind a bit.

Dont worry igaboj I think debate is fun. Besides its better than being on the chess team. My school won some competitions for it and is rank really high from what I hear. Funny how thats the only sport we're like #1 in. LOL. Not football, not baseball, but chess. Sorry about the double post and this post being off topic but I had to say it. If only to make igaboj feel better. And not to say chess is a bad thing either.....
