They will mimic some things from the UK show but with American spice!! Let's just enjoy it for what it is and stop comparing it with the original one!!
I'm aware of that. All I was saying by including the English accents bit was that I preferred it. Not that American accents suck. Calm down. And yes, it is an American show. The English show does not use English cars for RPC, but they DID use an American car for a while (chevy). It would make too much sense to use an American car on an American show, I suppose. I will continue watching the show and hope it succeeds, but all I'm saying is I prefer the original. Is that worth getting worked up over?

I like the american version better..

More car, less stupid...

There are some moments i wish they wouldn't have...but that's the same to be said for every "potentially awesome show" that is just "alright/watchable"

I prefer a car focused auto show than a person/journalistic humor focused one...

I hope this top gear sticks around for a while, and i hope they don't fall into the same lame cyclical holes Top Gear UK fell into

No..just an observation after sitting through the ep a second time...

Medical related question....What is the risk of developing testicular cancer from having certain members of the board always swinging from the sack?

About as likely as having certain members deliver illogical arguments based on semantics.

Stupid?

It was inquisitive.

I was wondering if you were still mad at Clarkson for no reason. You've mentioned your (unfounded) distaste for him before and I am just surprised you haven't gotten over the fact that they don't take themselves too seriously when reviewing American made cars.

So really, you shouldn't be mad. And if Top Gear USA became TG:UK, it would help bring automotive culture to the forefront of social media. Because right now, we have reality TV shows about housewives and pregnant teens. (Sarah Palin's Alaska)

Oh, and I am not the one mentioning male genitalia.

You two...I swear I don't which one is worse.

Anyways, I agree with Drift. UK Top Gear has blown for a number of years now.

The US Top Gear is far more an actual enthusiast's show from what I could tell. Less about the actors and more about the cars.

And there is a real driver, which is awesome.

I think that's the appeal about TG:UK for me. They are all just "blokes" (they're more celebrities than anything now) but they maintain that identity.

A professional racing driver helps out with stunts and specific analysis about how a car can be better set-up. However, I think the "blokes" identity is more our speed because that's what we are (pun not intended).

I think TG:USA is a good idea because it hopefully will shed light on a great subculture and on something quite important to America, the car.

I hope these guys pull a gag like TG:UK did and enter an endurance race.

yesterdays show was decent.

No mention of any real cars, except for that one thing with solid rear axle.

but the next weeks episode looks good.

on a semi related note

OCC starts today on the discovery channel at 9 pm.
