BHP is Brake Horsepower...It's the horsepower at the crankshaft if I'm not mistaken...

WHP is Wheel Horsepower...It's the power that actually gets to the wheels...From BHP to WHP there is usually about 15% power loss... :?

Brake horse power is mesured through a water break hence the name. Wheel horse power is usual quite alot lower and mesured on a dyna jet or something similer

there is about a 100 horsepower diff between the too. so when someone says the push 400whp it useally means that it is pushing 513-540 bhp. people who want to sound mean say bhp.

You're exaggerating, the difference is not that much... maybe about 10% at the most.

it's not a set "100 hp difference", it's a ratio. like ghalos said it's about 15% drivetrain loss on average. if it was a set 100 hp difference, what if a car had 90 bhp? would it then have -10 whp? FF cars have less drivetrain loss than FR or AWD cars have because the driveshaft has to reach the rear of the car instead of going straight down to the front wheels.

edit: after a quick google search it seems like most FF cars are getting ~15% loss, and FR cars are getting ~20% loss. AWD i think gets more loss, i actually saw a couple people saying 30% loss with AWD, but i don't really believe that.

I do.

and I based what I said for numbers of cars I have seen. supra pulling 1331 horsepower. then when you read about it it is roughly 1000-1100 horse.
