not with the weight in the rear.

The only way I could imagine is if the weight of the motor was evenly dispursed. maybe a flat electric motor in the midship. But traction and practicality still may be an issue that makes the idea pointless IMO.

Just off the top of my head (I.e I'm not going from anything written down) but having a rear-engined car would mean that most of the wight would be centred towards the rear, thus giving the car a centre of gravity towards the back of the car.

By my somewhat brash reasoning, that would make the car, by nature, harder to swing around. RR layout cars can counterbalance this because the power is still coming from behind the CoG*. If the power was coming from the front, then it wouldn't be very easy for the back to come out.

Also, with all the weight on the back, there is minimal weight pushing down on the front driving wheel, causing a loss in grip from those wheels. Besides, in rallying your always trying to control oversteer, and I'm not sure if it would be easy to control the back end coming out given the fact that the power is coming from the front wheels, although anyone is welcome to correct me on that.

*Again, just off the top of my head, so no real hard science went into that idea/suggestion

EDIT: Tad necromantic there, apologies.

Can't understeer be when the rear wheels have so much grip that the fron cant do anything and the rear just keeps on pressing on? And if a RF car was in a rally... when you want to oversteer on a long corner... i dont think it would work because you would have the back swinging a lot with the weight back there...then you got front wheel drive making you understeer off a cliff and or into the spectators. It would be good for hairpins though
